Fish N’ Tails Oyster Bar — Restaurant in McKinney

We wanted to try this place as it is fairly new. Walking in it was put together simply. Walk up order your food grab a number and find whatever seat you want.

We sat in the back because that’s where the soccer was playing and it was a bit more quiet for my kiddo (13) to read.

We waited a LONG time to get our food- 30 min and then they brought out my food and not the other two orders for another 15 min.

The manager noticed this and was VERY GRACIOUS AND APOLOGETIC- she comped the whole ticket. ❤️❤️

When we got around to finally eating we ordered the shrimp basket, 2 catfish filet basket, and the shrimp and oyster basket with a side of red potatoes and Cajun butter.

The shrimp was REALLY good- oysters were a little gummy- the catfish was tender and juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The cornbread breading was yummy and the hushpuppies had flavor, not just fried breaded bread. However- the red potatoes and Cajun butter was SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! We poured that butter on everything! We WILL be getting a seafood boil next time.

All in all the atmosphere is great! I was also told once they get the kitchen in order they will be having live music...

We had dinner tonight at it was great! We got a Combo Platter Boil, Crawfish, Blackened Cod, kids chicken tenders, and clam chowder.

This was our first time trying this chain so we don’t have anything to compare it to. But we loved it! You order at the counter and find a seat and they bring out your food. Despite being very busy we had no problems finding a table, and we got our food quickly after ordering.

The boil was amazing!!!! Medium spice was so flavorful! Nice big legs of crab, big shrimp, and the crawfish were great!! The garlic butter was yummy and the ranch rivals Wing Stop in my opinion!

The clam chowder was just okay, the clams were pretty chewy and it wasn’t as thick and creamy as I prefer. The Onion Rings looked great but were also bland. They would be much better with some seasoning in the batter or sprinkle led over after they come out of the fryer.

Overall, my family really enjoyed it! It has been the best seafood we have had in a long time! We will definitely be back and hope to be back again before crawfish season ends!

Ordered a shrimp cocktail, calamari, fried shrimp basket with fries, and fried catfish basket with fries. I've been to multiple Fish and Tails locations. The food is pretty consistent. Everything was made well and tasted great. This location just recently opened. It still has some issues to resolve. First, the soda machine wasn't working. It's not a big problem. The other issue we had was they never brought out the fried catfish. I made the mistake of asking the kitchen staff about my missing food. Even though they said they would handle it, they did not. I then went up front and asked for a refund on just the missing item. The cashier was very apologetic. They gave us a refund and offered to make the food for free. I declined. I will definitely be back, not just for the food, but for their customer service. Accidents happen. It's just life, but I appreciate the way they handled the problem.
