Probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had.
Got there around 9:45a. Some chit-chatting and laughing between employees right in front of me at the host stand for about 5 minutes. Then the bus boy (may be the owner) came over and asked about the party number.
Sat at 9:55a for seven of us celebrating a family member's 60th birthday. Our drink orders were taken in a timely manner. Took less than 10 minutes for our drinks to come out. No issues, though the freshly squeezed orange juice tasted not freshly squeezed, and the server spilt orange juice in front of my grandfather. Our orders were taken at the same time. We specifically chose meals that would get us out by 11a, such as eggs and bacon.
At around 10:30a, two fruit cup sides came out. At 10:40a (nearly an hour after arriving), two orders of pancakes came out. Followed by dry toast. Got up a few minutes later and spoke to another server about seven breakfast plates taking an hour and why partial plates were coming out.
We requested fresh pancakes and having the food come out all together, and soon. We also requested one of the orders to become a to-go order, since that person (who received the dry toast), had to go to work (at a restaurant). She spoke with our server.
5 minutes later, the cold pancakes were picked up and our server replaced them with warm pancakes. Then that was it. No other food came out. We tried to be patient and understanding, especially since our family has been in the food industry for 25+ years.
After even more time, the party of four behind us, who sat at least 15 minutes after us, received their food. That's what led us to getting up and leaving. As we were leaving, the servers and owners just stared at us. Blank eyes. No words. No interaction. No questions.
It was a really disappointing experience coming at 10a on a Saturday with the restaurant 75% full (less than 15 tables), and leaving at 11:15a without food in our bellies.
We went to First Watch about 10 minutes away. Food came out in less than 20 minutes, and it was...
Read moreFirst timer here. Have looked up this place many times but always chose another place to eat and finally came in yesterday with my husband and sons. It was around noon on a thursday and it didn't look busy which was fine by me since we were seated right away. Waitress came and took our drinks order and gave us a few more minutes as we were still deciding on what to get.
My husband and boys ordered a dish each and I just munched off of them as I wasn’t that hungry and I get to try all the dishes.
My husband ordered the Florentine Benedict- Freshly sliced tomatoes and spinach, covered with hollandaise sauce. I thought it was good. It had the right amount of hollandaise sauce and the eggs were cooked perfect for me. Only slight bad thing was that the muffin was over cooked or something. I couldn’t cut it with the knife. My husband picked it up and bit it.
One of my son ordered the Denver Omelette with pancakes - diced ham with bell peppers and onions, topped with Monterrey Jack and Cheddar cheese. He subbed the ham for sausages. He didn’t like it to much because he said he couldn’t taste the sausages and it was just bell peppers and onions. He did say he liked the pancakes and I have to agree as I take half of one of the pancakes.
My other son ordered the Bacado with toast - Crumbled bacon with fresh spinach and diced tomatoes, sliced avocados In Monterey jack and cheddar cheese and Monterey jack and cheddar cheese. He liked it and said it was good. I ate his toast and it good. It wasn’t under or over toasted.
Overall it was a good experience and their portions were pretty decent. The price was fair as well. I do recommend Benny’s Cafe and...

Mary and I decided to grab some breakfast at the local b-fast joint early Saturday (today). While we were there a lady, whom we think worked there, was literally screaming at everyone. Employees, uber eats couriers, customers.
1st. She told an employee to do something, syrups?!?, and along the way the employee saw a courier waiting at the front so she checked in to see if they needed anythjng and from across the restraunt you could hear a deep roar from the ?manager? yelling at the poor girl to leave them alone and get back to the chore assigned to her.
2nd. Another patron was sitting near the register and a waitress sat across from his, politely?!?, to see if he needed anything else and another loud roar came from the beyond. It was the manager again! "I cant believe this!" " You! Keep eating. YOU get back to work"
We couldn't believe it. We were slightly scared. The entire restraunt was striken and it got eerily quite.
3rd. As we were going to checkout there were 3 employees in a huddle talking about who was doing what that day and, again, another bellowing from the manager "I cant freaking believe this" and quickly dispersed the gaggle of staff. One girl was visibly confused becaused she still didnt have her assignment.
Overall we love the food. Its just as good as the 12 other b-fast popups that have shown up around McKinney.
We were not happy with the constant screaming if what we can only assume is a manager screaming at employees with a full restraunt trying to gather on a peaceful Saturday morning.
We will be back, just not anytime soon. Maybe we will send my mother in law there...
