On Thursday May 8th 2025, I had the absolute worst experience with any food I’ve ever ordered anywhere in my life. It was our first time ever going to Mabel’s, we had seen it so many times when driving in the area. We placed an order online and picked it up. We ordered Jollof, fried rice, and seafood okro. The seafood okro was for my husband, so I asked to taste it, and as I put it in my mouth, I immediately realized the soup was spoiled. I told my husband that the soup was spoiled, and it was right as he put it inside his mouth. Then I smelled the soup, it smelled so bad and awful. I immediately called to let them know, a lady picked up, most likely an employee and I told her what was wrong, and she politely asked me to hold on, then a man picked up, I really don’t want to believe this man owns this business, because the encounter with him was a total mess. It was almost 9pm, and he asked me to bring the soup back for him to check if it was bad, I told him I lived 30mins away and it was bedtime for my kids (3 yrs and 1 yr), he could clearly hear my 1yr old crying. Then he asked me “what do you want?”… when he asked “what do you want”, I asked him to refund the soup, and he said that he cannot refund the soup since I could not bring it back, I told him I could freeze it and bring it the following day since it was my kids bedtime, and it was also too late for me to drive 30mins, and he said he cannot collect frozen soup, that if I order food from target and call them over the phone without returning the food, that will they refund me… I told him that first of all, target would not sell me rotten cooked food. Honestly if he had apologized for my encounter and said please stop by when next you’re in the area, so we can make it up to you, that would have been okay, but he was just right off the back being defensive, and said they cooked the food right when I ordered, and I said that’s definitely not true, then he said they cooked it “today”.. Even the fried rice was bland, the Jollof had a sharp tomato paste taste. Even if the seafood okro wasn’t spoiled, the food we ordered would have still be rated low on the taste. Waste of my time and money. Best believe this was my first and last time ever going here.

From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The warm and welcoming atmosphere was matched by the friendly greetings from multiple staff members. Our server, MiAmor, was in training but already showed great skill and hospitality, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. What truly stood out was the impeccable service and attention to detail. The food? Absolutely delicious! We indulged in **Egusi, Fried Rice/Jollof, and Designer Stew**, all perfectly seasoned and served in generous portions. The appetizers—**Suya, Asun, and Meat Pie**—were just as impressive, each bite bursting with authentic flavors. One of the biggest surprises of the night? **Complimentary puff puff!** This was a rare and delightful treat, as most African restaurants don’t offer anything on the house beyond silverware and water. The **puff puff** was warm, fluffy, and simply delicious. Ayo, the manager, was incredibly personable, making rounds to check in on guests and ensuring everyone was happy. His genuine care for customer satisfaction was evident and much appreciated. The ambiance was another highlight. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, creating a cozy yet elegant vibe. Even the bathrooms were spotless and smelled great—a small but important detail that added to the overall experience. Without a doubt, we’ll be coming back! This restaurant sets a high standard for African dining, offering exceptional food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I've passed Mabel's many times on my way to Fairview and each time I promised myself that I would stop in one day and check out the menu. Well, I did just that last week and I must say that I am happy that I stopped in! The interior is beautifully decorated with colorful art work and has a lively, casual yet upscale atmosphere which makes it a perfect place for dining with friends, family or business associates. The dining area was clean and large enough to accommodate a large group, but still had cozy feel. The staff was very welcoming and immediately greeted us and brought out glasses of water and complimentary PuffPuffs (like donut balls, but less sweet). There were QR codes on the table to pull up the menu which made it easy for everyone to see the menu and to place an order with our server. Our server was very kind and attentive, she kept our drinks topped off and brought the food on time. I ordered the Egusi Stew with FuFu and a fish meat roll, my husband ordered a meat pie, Efo Riro with Amala, and my sons ordered Jollof rice and Egusi Stew with FuFu and mixed meat. Everything came out on time, the meat pies were first to come out and were hot, fresh and tasty. When we were done eating the pies the Jollof rice was delivered, followed by the rest of the dishes. All of the dishes were very flavorful and were throughly enjoyed by each of my family members. Overall we had a wonderful experience and plan to return to try out some of the other dishes on the menu.
