This will be my first time doing this to a business I wanted so bad to support. I've been telling many people to come to this location because the company is from Chicago and we have a lack of these restaurants here in the DFW area. The first time I went the staff was engaging, answered questions, etc. I've been here at least 8 times since with sending my son, husband, and others there in the last few months. I've heard numerous complaints about the staff's attitude and my friend was there this week and said he wasn't treated as though the business appreciates customers. They're not busy but will ignore you for a while and then come to take your order like you're bothering them. Still, I really wanted a Philly steak tonight. My family wanted to go to pick up Portillo's but since l'm recovering from a procedure they gave me what I wanted. We ordered A Philly Cheesesteak, the Maxwell Polish & A Super Taco. I was hyped cause I had been wanting their sandwich for over a week now. When I took a bite, the meat had a spoiled taste. I looked at the sandwich & meat and smelled it and it was an off scent. Not seasoning. I've had this sandwich numerous times as well but there just happened to be something wrong tonight. I called 4 times - no answer. Mind you again, they're usually not real busy. I waited a few minutes and called again. No answer. My husband went to let the gentleman know. My husband went to let the gentleman know what the situation was and he got irritated and said "I don't know what you want me to do". He goes to the back speaks to a lady. She comes back, husband explains. She says she has to call the OWNER to make a decision (umm what?, okay). She dials a number & just handed my husband the phone. The number was the restaurant number so it went straight to VM. she comes back & says l'll call the personal number. She dials it, again hands the phone to my husband and she walked away. No one answered. Meanwhile, called back & she walks away to talk and now he hasn't said anything to the manager. The young lady comes back and says the owner says....." send her an email"! An email when the food is returned, the money was paid & the product just wasn't right this time. She said there's nothing I can do. I don't have another option. She hands him a card and that's it. Now he has sent the email but I now see why others have said what they've said. They don't want our business. They can't want customers or they wouldn't treat people with such disdain. I'm showing a pic & copy of my previous review to show you that I did in fact not only love the food before but also was promoting it. Now, even though this restaurant is 8 blocks away, l won't support a business that doesn't respect their customers & treat them with disrespect. There are plenty of places for me to spend $40 to. To date I never got my money back even though they received their food back. No call, no return email. I appreciate the fact that I know they don’t care about customers and their business in McKinney. See previous review. Definitely a great place to check out. The staff is friendly. You get that home feeling when you walk in the door by seeing the chi-town artist on the wall. The price is comparable & what you should expect when purchasing good food outside of the city & location! Didn't take long to get & The owner is from the SOUTH SIDE of Chicago so it’s not someone from like Downers Grove saying they from Chicago! Lol Let’s make sure we patronize and send the folks out. We need to be better about making sure we continue to bless businesses who look like us just like we do others. Be intentional & it becomes impactful.

Tried this place for the first time. It's a local family owned small business, which we love to support . The service was great and very friendly. Sandwiches and fries were made fresh and hot. Unfortunately, the meat was seasoned way too salty. The ratio of cheese and other additions to meat was good. You definitely get a good-sized sandwich for a meal. They do not offer fountain drinks, so you get cans of soda or bottles of water, and each are pricey. Even if we needed/wanted more to drink, we chose not to. The space is small and there are a few tables to eat in. It felt a bit like someone's spare sitting room. Not terrible, but a different feel. We may try this place again to give is another try and see how it goes. Will lilely be for take away though, rather than sit in.

I'm in the process of relocating to Dallas for work and when I found out there is a black family owned Chicago-style restaurant right here in the Dallas area, I just had to give it a try. I'm born and raised in Chicago and I must say Shoagies hits on all levels of Chicago, plus the mural on the wall is dope af!!! Me and my daughter have dropped in 3 times so far. You guys must try the sweet steak with hot peppers and a turkey hoagie! I also love me a gyro cheese burger and a crispy Philly, which is a deep fried Philly cheese-steak. You can't go wrong no matter what you try! Ain't nothing like Chicago food! Can't wait to try everything on the menu!

They say the 3rd times a charm so I guess they are right lol! I FINALLY went and they were actually open on Wednesday October 4th about 3pm. The 1st time I attempted to go was Thursday 3/16/23 at 12:30pm and the 2nd time I attempted was Tuesday 8/5/23 at 12:45pm and they were closed both times. If they are not going to be open during the week at 12pm then they should update their hours online.  After reading other people's reviews, I can honestly say...nobody is lieing EXCEPT when they say the customer service was "Great", "good, "awesome" or whatever you want to call it. Obviously, I must have came on the wrong day.

Customer Service: Erin was nice, but her customer service itself was subpar. It was my first time here.  I walked in and she was wrapped in a blanket sitting on the couch watching TV.  She just pointed to where the Menu was and never did get up. As she remained seated, wrapped in her blanket, she did answer my questions about the menu.  Again, she seem nice and pleasant, but also gave off "I don't want to be here vibes".

Cleanliness It was descent. They have some tables you can sit down at. The table I sat at had crumbs on it and crumbs on the floor. For it to not had been ANYONE in the restaurant, I felt like it should have been clean. Especially since she was wrapped in a blanket  chillin on the couch watching TV.

Food: I got the Harvey World. The presentation was a bit sloppy/messy. The sandwich was very flavorful...but maybe TOO much flavor. I can see why some people say the food is salty. The Italian Beef tasted DELICIOUS by itself.  The mixture of cheese, tzatziki, and giardinera may have made it bit salty. The giardinera  by itself definitely gave a salty taste. I picked most of it out and it wasn't as salty. Maybe I had a bad batch, but I absolutely do not recommend the lemonade. Not sweet at all.

If  I'm in the area again and go back, I probably just keep it really simple and get a Philly.  I say go try it for yourself. Everyone has a...

Customer service is extremely ghetto! We called an order in a week ago and a girl answered the phone, she didn’t comprehend anything. As I began to order she responded saying, “I don’t know what that is.” I could hear a woman in the background yelling, “Just write everything down.” I wrote it off as this being a family owned business trying to train their children to take orders. Food was decent. I agree with the other comments about food portions being skim compared to the cost, especially on the fries. However, I am in favor or supporting black owned businesses and was willing to give them a 2nd try. Today I just tried to place a phone order and the girl that answered had an attitude. She said they are no longer accepting orders over the phone and that I needed to order online, then hung up the call. After that experience I will not be going back. This is a prime example of why “black owned” has a negative reputation and why it’s so difficult to consistently support some black owned businesses.

Message to the owners: You have too many google reviews referencing similar experiences. This isn’t Chicago, you’re in McKinney, TX where poor customer service can and will ruin your business. Learn how to treat customers with respect and if you have family working for you that cannot abide by that then you need to go back to the...
