The modern day speakeasy. This modern yet classic bar is the next hot spot in Mac. The overall atmosphere is exciting, relaxed and enjoyable. The decor and ambiance are reminiscent of the 1920’s, and the staff keep it alive. The staff are kind and courteous and are sure to let us know about the experience, menu and the mission of the bar. The food is good but the drinks are better. I’m so glad that there’s a spot in town that serves a hot dog! The menu has a large selection of gin and whiskey drinks which the bartender let me know are reminiscent of the prohibition era. After being there on a Sunday evening for about 10 minutes the place suddenly became full. It’s was so awesome! I’m so excited that we have this new spot in town, and it has a great selection of inexpensive drinks and food along side its regular menu. I will continue to come back here!

We had an ok experience at the Lafayette Bar. Other reviewers say it has a speakeasy theme, which I didn't get at all. It has more of a dark and dingy Portland dive bar vibe. Not bad honestly, I think that Lafayette's atmosphere fills void in Mac, which is full of modern/trendy bars. What was disappointing is the drinks. The menu is full of all the classic 20's cocktails (I guess that's where the speakeasy part comes from?). They are all super basic and by the book. No riffs, no creative expressions. Just the basics that anyone can easily make at home. Not bad, except the prices are inconsistent and frankly absurd. $18 for a bees knees or clover club? What!? Way over priced considering the local competition. We'll keep an eye on this bar but probably won't return any time soon.

One of the treasures if you're exploring the Granary/Alpine District. 1109 has a lot of heart, in fact it is technically, logistically the heart of the district. I love it for the quality of the drinks and the atmosphere. They've done it up right so you're enjoying yourself in a place with some soul, charm and comfort. And the music is well curated, to say the least. It's hard to put your finger on it, but the place is just overall cool.

This place, the crew, the crowd and the atmosphere are top tier. If your looking for a spot to have a good time and converse with some awesome people, as a mac local, I highly recommend this place! I've always had a good time and met some friendly welcoming people every time I visit this establishment! They have comfy seating indoors with a friendly crowd, and outdoor seating with some beautiful lighting! If your reading this looking for your mac town adventure, look no further, this place...
