I Wish There Was a Zero Star Option
This morning we spent over 30 minutes researching restaurants with outdoor patios that allow dogs since weâre traveling with our tiny puppy. We chose this restaurant for my birthday specifically because their website clearly states dogs are welcome in outdoor seating. See attached photo, directly from their website.
Weâve been to countless dog-friendly patios with small, well-behaved dogs who sat on our laps when they are super small and never once had an issueâuntil now.
At first, everything was fine. We were seated, given water and place settings, and our puppy sat quietly on a blanket in our lap. Then someone came out to say dogs arenât allowed once food is served. Moments later, someone else said dogs are allowed, but only if they stay on the ground and she canât be on our laps. SeriouslyâŠwhy?
Our puppy wasnât on the table or causing any trouble, we had the only outdoor table so certainly werenât offending anyone, she wasnât touching the table not that this should even matter. She was calm, quiet, and sitting on our lap. For a restaurant that claims to allow dogs, this made no senseâespecially when we were outside at the only patio table, following their posted rules, minding our own business.
If you have a policy against dogs sitting on laps, say so on your website, I have literally never heard of such a thing. We never wouldâve chosen this place had we known because our puppy is in a phase where she tries to eat everything, so the ground isnât safe or an option. She absolutely was causing zero issues on our lap and is very well behaved.
Ironically, the other restaurants and cafĂ©s we visited, (including the one we enjoyed in lieu of this rude establishment)ânone of which advertised being dog-friendlyâwere incredibly welcoming. Staff brought water for our puppy, offered her treats, and made us feel at home and welcome with our puppy. But this place? They went out of their way to make us feel uncomfortable, despite the fact they advertise dogs being welcome.
We left without ordering. We wonât be back. And if you donât actually want dogs there, just be honest and take it off your website. We have no problem with restaurants not allowing dogs to their property and always honor these rules but when you are honoring the advertised rules and get asked to leave or specifically given new rules after arriving then that is...
Read moreI HATE to leave bad reviews! But when the owner didn't return my call - no other choice.
My friend wanted to take me to a nice place for lunch (a couple of older guys) -- so Alpine Crossing Kitchen. Corned beef hash was ok - underseasoned pot roast. He had the "1 lb bone-in ham steak" - I guarantee you it's exactly, and I mean EXACTLY like the 8 oz THIN one at Fred Meyer for $5. He said "This is a lot thinner than the last time I had it." And they charge $19.75 for 8 oz ham, 2 eggs and side of fruit. So... that's the food.
Fortunately we had a very nice waitress but the "afternoon manager" served our water (very snippy when we didn't answer fast enough about what else to drink) and gave us our bill at the end and that's when it got ugly.
Just the facts - she charged us for somebody else's hamburger at $21 (+20% tip) which should never have happened with only 4 tables and 8 diners there the whole time.
Rather than void it out and start over, she gave my friend a second bill for $16 (with no tip) to cover our $37.50 bill - which he paid. As he was trying to understand why the 2nd bill, she became very abrupt demanding his credit card!
He got so confused with 2 bills and 1/2 of the tip he wanted to pay. He just wanted one receipt showing the total plus tip to give to his wife to record expenses.
We couldn't even get a complete sentence out to ask for that when she became unhinged. She was beyond rude, raising her voice, disrespectful, demeaning, and insulting - right in front of other diners. It seriously was shocking! Never in my life!
She finally voided out both sales, billed him the correct $37.50 + 20% tip. She was loud and mouthy even as we were walking out the door!
I finally called to speak the owner and the guy answering the phone was even rude!
How much do 2 customers, their families, all their friends, and smart people who read reviews cost a business? $37.50 + 20% tip! I encourage you to read the other reviews about their rude staff. I still...
Read moreMy wife and I went to the Alpine kitchen today for the 1st time. Having been referred by a lady in the bank. The staff was very friendly and cheerful from the moment we entered. Knowing nothing about the establishment, we scanned the menu, and we saw a few of our favorites My wife ordered salmon Benedict, and I ordered the hash and eggs.
The hash was a ten. The meat was fried with potato, onions, peppers, etc. It had a wonderful caramelized rich crispness to it, and my egg were perfectly cooked to order. Delightful
My Wife's Benedict was delicious. She wasted no time finishing all.
Added note. The staff was gathering around the counter, looking at and photographing a tall glass decoratively filled and garnished. Since they were excited about it, I jokingly said I'd be glad to review that for them. A few minutes later, they brought it over to us and informed us it was a mocktail.
A Chicken and Waffle Bloody Mary!
The glass was rimmed with a Cajun spice and garnished with pickled geenbean, asparagus pearlonion, celery, and a Pepperoncini pepper. It was well seasoned with a nice bite. Not overwhelming. They do have three kinds of hot sauce at the table for the adventurous. It was topped off with a chicken waffle. Belgian waffle just crispy enough with generous chunks of moist chicken throughput.
We will be back! Fabulous!!!
The Alpine Kitchen is the best place to visit just...
