Yesterday, 9/14/22, at 10 am I walked into the Mebane restaurant feeling great. A few minutes later, I left in a very foul mood. There were very few customers there and 3 waitresses and a cook standing around waiting to serve. Before I could pause to consider hopping up onto a bar stool, two waitress told me to sit. That didn't really sink into my mind, but afterward I realized it had been a premonition of things to come. I took my seat and immediately a nice young lady (name tag: Hanna) asked me what I wanted. I appreciate eager, helpful service people but this seemed a little too abrupt. I had no menu to go by and asked for one. She looked around and told me she's have to find one for me. She did, and while I was looking at the menu I began to hear what the workers were saying to one another. Hanna stood just the other side of the counter, 2 feet off to my right. The cook was directly in front of me, maybe 4 feet away, facing me. I heard and saw him say to the back of Hanna's head, "why should you get a 15 percent tip for something I can do?" She said something in reply. Another waitress was standing about 5 feet off to my right and she asked Hanna why she was just standing there. Hanna said, "I'm waiting on him to make up his mind." (ouch!) At that point I had decided on a meal so I laid the menu on the counter, raised my hand and was about to say, "I'm ready." Hanna, with a bit of irony involving the term 'waiting' immediately left the area and stood by the booth area near the backroom door. I heard the other waitress say somethin to Hanna and I looked over at that waitress and saw a scowl on her face. The cook said, "Now let's don't make a fuss", or something like that. Hanna was about to return when I finally caught on to the situation. I had not come in there to listen to petty bickering so I shoved the menu slightly to the other edge of the counter and said, gently, "just forget it" and left. As I was opening the outer door, I heard someone make a comment but I was concentrating on getting away from that mess and also wondering where I could go for a badly needed cup of coffee and a bite to eat...in peace. In retrospect, I began to wonder if the other two were harrassing Hanna. If so, I hope she has an understanding manager who will take charge of the situation. I will be going back soon and if the same folks are running the joint, I'll go...
Read moreI do not like giving bad reviews but sometimes it's necessary so a business knows what's going on. I was in the service industry for years so I know how tiring and stressful it can be but the experience we had was absolutely ridiculous. We were on a road trip and saw a waffle house sign on 40 going through Mebane so we decided to stop. We walked in and there were people waiting, so I asked if there was a list we could put our names on and was told no, it was just more of a line. Okay. We should've left then and gone next door to Bojangles because it was total chaos. After a few minutes, four seats at the end of the bar opened up so we sat down. Several minutes went by before anyone even made eye contact with us, and even then all the lady said was "Can I get a break, I am so tired" and then walked off to do something else. Finally another lady came up to take our orders, and it's a good thing my husband and I have common sense because she didn't even say anything, she literally just stood there and took her pen and order pad out and postured like she was ready to write stuff down. I did hear her say under her breath, "I can't wait until two o'clock" so there's that. We still hadn't ordered drinks at this time so we ordered everything at once, no big deal. Not sure how long it took for us to get our drinks but it was way way too long to get two coffees and four waters. When the food started coming out, she still didn't say anything, she just started shoving food in front of us. She brought my son's food over first and sighed when she put it down like we were bothering her. I will say this, our food was good. There was one guy in there that seemed to be acting like a runner, helping people out. He said more to us and did more for us than our...
Read moreI usually have great service from this establishment in Mebane. However, when staff yells at me in a condescending manner stating, "We are not taking to go orders due to staff shortage. There is a big sign on the door!", I will just take my business elsewhere and refrain from being ignorant and disorderly. This woman really upset me! Their are several signs that hold no relevance to what is supposedly currently going on at that restaurant. Their is a sign with the website and order to go instructions. However, that sign is irrelevant because this establishment is not taking online or phone orders! Am I to read every sign on the perimeter of the restaurant prior to entering? I was busy paying attention to the amount of people on line waiting for service. The business like thing to do was to simply state that they apologize for the inconvenience but they are not taking to go orders at this time. This is what businesses do. Not upset peoples day. In fact, judging by her attitude, she might have been the reason for the shortage of staff. Tighten up on the service and attitude and perhaps you can...
