Deep Cuts Review – A Radical Flashback to the ‘70s & ‘80s!
The Queen and I rolled into Deep Cuts last night, and let me tell you—this place is a time warp straight to the glory days of tube TVs, killer pinball action, and cassette tapes! From the moment we walked in, it was like stepping onto the set of a vintage arcade flick, complete with mirrored ceilings, glowing neon, and the sweet, sweet sound of silver balls ricocheting through machines.
The pinball arcade was an absolute blast from the past—rows of classic machines lined the walls, including one old-school beauty with an analog scoreboard (none of that digital nonsense here!). The whole vibe was electric, with the click-clack of flippers and the hum of CRT screens setting the mood. Just outside the arcade, we spotted a pristine vintage pinball-style machine that looked like it had been preserved in a 1978 time capsule.
When we hit the bar area, the retro love kept coming. Bar-height tables, moody lighting, and a killer selection of drinks displayed on two giant TVs behind the counter. The bartenders were cool cats, serving up drinks with a smile and making us feel right at home. And dig this—they’ve got QR code menus, so you can order like it’s the future while vibing in the past. Genius.
Whether you’re a pinball wizard, a vinyl junkie, or just looking for a far-out spot to unwind, Deep Cuts delivers the goods. The Queen and I are already planning our next date night here—because why settle for boring when you can party like it’s 1979?
Final Verdict: If you dig good drinks, killer arcade action, and a heavy dose of nostalgia, Deep Cuts is your spot. 10/10 we...
Read moreReview is 100% based on Deep Cuts as a venue. I'm so glad this is here.
-Nice big stage -Big open audience area without pillars -The bar is a separate area so there's almost no bar noise -An actual backstage area so bands don't have to leave their gear out -The bathrooms are actually clean, not just "Clean for a venue". -Parking in the local municipal lot is free during showtimes and it's been super easy on weekdays. -Great food options within quick walking distance. -Easy on/off to the highway.
I can't think of a Boston area venue I've been to in 20 years that has so many positives. Maybe even New England in general. They put a lot of thought into this place and they obviously care about being a good music venue. I'm genuinely excited to see bands here that I used to have to deal with Allston or Brookline to see.
It would be nice if they could serve food during the show, but the placement of the kitchen would make it distracting. Respect for prioritizing the show.
Only criticism is that they could figure out their front door situation a bit better. It's rained both times I've been so maybe it's better when the weather is nice. It gets hot inside when it's hot out but not unbearable. Bathrooms are magically well...
Read moreThis was my first time trying Deep Cuts. I’ve heard a lot of good things and was super stoked to try it out. We had a party of 6 and sat at the large picnic style tables. One of the guys from the bar took our food and drink orders. The environment was very social and the lights were dim giving it a grungy dive bar vibe, but in a clean way lol. Our food and drinks showed up fast. One person from our group had food allergies and there was no issue accommodating this. The food was amazing. I had the Cuban and a side of fries and it was one of the best I’ve had. Everyone’s good looked great and there were no complaints. They stop serving food around 8pm and shortly after there were a couple of bands playing a free show! There is also a mini record shop and a pinball arcade. It was a 10 out of 10 experience. With the bands playing it was loud, but that’s a no brainer. Also there was plenty of parking across the street making it super easy to get there. I’ll definitely be back!!! The food was super affordable as well. Two of us ate for under $35!! That’s without alcoholic drinks. Good job Deep Cuts!!! Medford for the...
