Man, a couple weeks ago I tried this place and it was one of the best “Chinese food” meals I’ve ever had. So tonight I went and ordered the exact same thing, Cashew Chicken Chow Mein, and what I got was not much more than a pile of boiled onions and celery with a few pieces of chicken. What I got the first time was nice mix of stir fried veggies and chicken in a traditional brown hoisin or clam type sauce. Tonight my meal looked and tasted like everything was boiled together in one pot, drained, and tossed in my carry out box with, and I counted, 10 cashew on top. It was really little more than a pile of onions and celery. Even after eating all the chicken, cashews, and water chestnuts, my plate looked almost exactly the same, like a big pile of plain boiled veggies. I would have returned my order had I realized it before getting all the way across town to my place. I’ve honestly never seen Chinese food like I received tonight... No sauce, no herbs, no garlic or ginger, no seasoning at all. What gives? I guess if I risk eating there again I will eat in. I did order in the store for carry out, and my order was ready very quickly, perhaps they forgot to toss it in sauce? Is that possible? Super disappointing experience, I would rate tonight’s visit as less than one star, but I’m giving you a two overall because of the one good meal I had a couple weeks ago. I sure would like to know what happened and why I got two completely different meals when I ordered the exact same...
Read moreI am taking my 4 star, glowing report back. THEY CHANGED CHEFS! the beautiful soups they used to have taste strange. How can make mar far chicken and fried shrimp taste weird, but it does now. It gives you a queasy feeling to have everything so different. But worst. If you order a 3 item meal and one of your choices is fried rice....they give you steamed sticky rice !! With a bit of soy sauce thrown only on the middle and a few green onion slices thrown on top. For the pork, they have the tiniest smattering of pork, and I mean tiny, tiny bits just under the rice. It is not fried rice! You should not have to pay for a third item. And it is false advertising on their menu to keep it there. My daughter and I could not even eat the meal. And it used to be " our place" to get together and have a favorite lunch and commune. Now it's just a big rip-off. I recommend you skip this restaurant. It used to be the best, freshest, perfectly done Cantonese and Szechuan in the valley. Condolences, ...
Read more(Recent update) We tried them again to see if food and service improved. So gross! Nope.
(Original) Received our meal and the noodles in one of the dishes tasted burnt. Not just a little, but very burnt. The veggies were semi raw so not sure how they accomplished that. I tried to eat it but just couldn't. I politely asked for a discount since it took a while to get a waitresses attn and didnt want to wait for another dish to be cooked at that point. The manager said all she would offer is a 10% discount because it tastes fine to her. Which is impossible, I'm not a picky eater and it was gross. Here is a photo of what was on my plate. There are only a few burnt noodles showing here. They already took the big plate away. My guess is they burnt a batch and tried to throw in fresh to dilute the burn flavor. Didnt work. (Btw, it was 6pm and very few customers. We have gone there for several years and never saw it so empty. Not surprised...
