The joint just opened within the last six weeks or so, so there are still a few details of their business posted on I-O-U notes in the corners--like the need of info on the website or the fact that you cannot yet purchase a glass with their logo. Those things aside, they responded very quickly and politely when I emailed them about their hours of operation (Yes they ARE open for lunch!).
Dining there was exactly what I wanted from a Brew pub. The décor is rustic and elegant with artwork including the tap-handles of all the local greats delivering a sense of happily belonging to a community of trade artisans. It's rough with a polish, and it's clean. At no point did I receive the impression that they were greedy for business or desperate to get attention. They are what they are, and they're cool if you want to come and see. There were plenty of tables, but not too packed in together for the kind of atmosphere such venues provide.
The food is artistic in texture and flavor. The red cabbage cole slaw (and I don't like slaw as a rule) on the BBQ Pork sandwich pretty much says it all. Needless to say it had not been floating in watery mayo all day. It was delicious! All the elements worked together very nicely in gastronomic symphony. I enjoyed their zing on BBQ sauces (nice to have a choice, and not too overwhelming). The food was much better than I expected for a place who's main draw is fabulous tap-line of beer. Even something as simple as cheese pizza had a signature twist, I knew I wouldn't get anywhere else.
At that point, the Beer was just a bonus--even though I might not have gone there except for the beer. I'm a lover of the basic IPA. I drank two, sampled one and was all around delighted with their characteristic sensitivity to flavor, texture, and craft. Their product is distinct without being distracting. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and commend this experience to beer and food...
Read moreEdit in response to owner - we were there on Sat May 20. The Stout, the oat and I can't remember the third that I ordered (was more excited for the first two, lost interest by the third) were amongst those kicked that day. I ended up drinking something called Mier Poy? Which I was told replaced the Stout. I'm pretty sure it was a lager that another person ordered at the table that was also kicked.
Maybe we got there at a bad time, around 7, but it was not packed at that moment and we walked right in and grabbed a table. I ordered a beer, only to have the server return a while later to inform me that the tap was out. Then this happened two more times, with the next two beers I tried to order. I think at that point the server should have written down everything that was kicked (most of the menu) and let us know so we weren't struggling to find drinks (two other people with us also ordered beers that were not available).
When it comes to food, I ordered the BBQ platter and frankly, for a place that advertises as a BBQ brewery, it sucked. Got a lot of charred fat, not much meat. Asked server what happened to the cornbread and I was told, oh we are out of it (would have been nice if she told me that when I placed the order). Was up charged $1 for the beans, which I didn't even liked bc they were spicy (which wasn't really spelled out in the menu). None of the BBQ sauces were really my style and I'm not a huge fan of using condiments in those plastic bottles that are never washed out. Not really a place I'd go back to, there are better breweries and certainly much better food options in the area.
The other folks with us tried the BBQ sandwich (equally disappointing) and two split a chicken pesto pizza, which they said was very good. We split fried pickles and those...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for a rare date night with no kids. We drove 1 1/2 hours because of the pictures and descriptions which were anything but accurate. The picture of the stacked wood, it's the only nice wall in there the rest is concrete blocks and not like a cool rustic style more like a we ran out of money when we remodeled.
We have been to several breweries and while some better than others this one was the worst. After negotiating with the waitress to taste a few of the beers on the menu we made our selections. I chose the cider which was average at best and my wife had there house ipa ( forget the name) which was bready and tasted like a 6 month old bottled ipa at a ghetto liquor store.
We started with the brisket fries for an appetizer. The fries were reg Sysco restaurant fries nothing special but for ten dollars I was def hoping for handcut fries. They we're topped with what I believe was a canned brown gravy and a few spots of melted cheese on top. I dug and dug but found not one piece of brisket. When I told the waitress she advised me it was just a brisket gravy however I told her they were called brisket fires. She finally took them and told us she'd get brisket which might have redeemed this experience. A few minutes later, the waitress came back and told us the cook burnt the brisket on the fries and that was the last of their brisket. I asked for the check and the waitress did give us a free drink so kudos for that but overall this place a brewery that doesn't k ow how to make beer or cider for that matter. They portray a brewery that specialized in BBQ yet they are out of brisket at 10 pm on a Saturday night???
Don't waste your time or money on...
