My family and I came to The Plantation after hearing several people we know talk about how good it is. Unfortunately before even entering the restaurant we were accosted at the door by Deena (who stated she was the manager) regarding my daughterâs service animal. Animal was harnessed and leashed but we were told in a very rude manner he couldnât enter. I informed her he was a service animal and he could enter to which she then rudely asked my daughter what kind of service animal he was and what he âeven does for herâ. I explained his function and that he was a trained service animal. Deena then continued to talk about how people bring âservice animalsâ into the restaurant and then let them be in the seats. I told her i knew my daughterâs rights and the rules her service animal is to follow. We were getting know where so I went to the seating table and asked if there was another manager working and was told yes. Deena followed us into the restaurant and continued to attempt to argue regarding the animal. After having the other manager come up we had a short discussion and she apologized for the behavior of the other manager and asked what service the animal provided and i again explained. We were then seated as the new manager apologized profusely. And guess whatâŚthe service animal layed down next to our booth and did exactly as he is supposed to with no issues. Listen, it isnât being asked about the animal itâs how it was asked and how my daughter was being treated by Deena that is the issue. It wasnât just a conversation regarding the function the animal provides but a clear indication of discontent for the animal being present. Deena needs some additional training on how to treat those with disabilities and what federal law requires. Some basic respect goes a long way and no one with a disability should be treated in such a manner. An individual should not have to disclose their disability to the manager to be seated. They also shouldnât have to participate in an argument with the person supposedly running your restaurant...
Read moreWhile there for a business dinner, I ordered a 12 ounce sirloin. The 2 business associates ordered 12 ounce strips. The very nice young lady that served us had trouble hearing what I said a few times, and even mentioned âmy mother says I need to turn my music down.â
When the meal was brought out, I noticed my steak seemed very large. I mentioned it to her, but she was already walking off, and my guests agreed it was big. We were offered boxes for our leftovers, and I declined, even though I ate less than half the steak. The plates were removed from our table, then the check delivered. It reflected a 22 ounce steak was ordered. When I discussed this with the young lady, she was a little shaken, and went to speak with the manager. She came back and reported that since I ate the steak, there was nothing that could be done. In an effort to not embarrass her, nor myself in front of business guests, I paid, tipped 15%, and we left. I called and spoke with a manager, not the manager who made the decision that I had to pay for the 22 ounce, but a different one. Told him the story, explained that I understand mistakes happen, and that I thought it was handled improperly. He made it my fault because I didnât say anything about the steak being large. The way things are handled after the wheels come off say a lot about a company. They were given 2 chances, and I let the manager I spoke to know that $10 difference really isnât much for a happy customer. Now I must leave this review everywhere I can as the principle means more to me than the bill. Outside of the unsavory way the mistake was handled, everything else was pretty ok, not $106, plus tip worthy,...
Read moreClean and friendly, service was good, and manager made sure everyone was happy. Location is very good with lots of other arts and crafts stores as well as entertainment venues close by. To include a river where you can swim and cool off in the summer. Our family of 15 plus the driver of the vehicle from Crawford family funeral services dined together. After my wife was laid to rest at Fort Sill National Cemetery. Everyone in our group was happy with the service and their individual meals. This was the first time we had ever been to the Medicine Park area. I would recommend the Old Plantation House Restaurant to anyone visiting here. It's a nice casual atmosphere. Good food and very hospitable.
Note to management: I worked in the hotel and restaurant industry before. I am a firm believer in tipping servers for the work they provide. I don't believe in automatically being charged tips. Once you automatically charge for something. It is no longer a gratuity. Look it up in the dictionary. It's like adding another tax. Charging for service rendered allows poor service to be rewarded. It promotes the socialist idea that everyone should be rewarded equally even when they don't do anything to earn it,while others work their buttons off to make sure everyone is taken care of.
So when I am taxed on top of the regular taxes, I don't pay or gift anything extra, and no one else should either. If the server is good and deserves 20% or greater tips. I reward them. If you tax me and try to call it gratuity. I won't pay you anything extra. Because it's no...
