First time dining here and very disappointed with my $240 dinner for two! They start with a basket of bread, very small pieces, mostly crust so hard to chew. Then the salads were very small, all spring lettuce that didn't look fresh at all. For the main course my date had Lobster Ravioli and she enjoyed it, however at $42 you’re obviously not paying for the 6 or 7 Raviolis she got, you’re paying for the "upscale dining", If you can even call this place upscale dining when there is no view of anything, at least from where they sat us. Less expensive places around here have river or ocean views, this is Florida Coast. I had a special that night priced at MP (market price), my bad for not asking the price but let me explain what I got for $120!! Yes $120.00. It started with the small wilted salad, but my big issue was the main course "special". It was explained in a way that sounded fantastic with 2 pounds of Maine Lobster "clean" (deshelled) with Jumbo Shrimp and Scallops all cooked, then mixed together and put back into the shell and baked. What I got was a sort of bowl with JUST 2 medium sized scallops, not seared, not coated with any spices or encrusted, just plain white, right out of the frig or maybe freezer and JUST 2 medium sized Shrimp and 2 wadded chunks of lobster meat that was seemingly overcooked, tough to cut through even with the special sharp knife they brought out and tough to chew. This small amount of food sitting in what tasted and appeared to be a tomato based mix of watery soup with a few tiny seemingly uncooked strips of Zucchini. Upon digging some lobster meat out of the mush with my fork and trying to cut off a piece to eat, it splashed onto the table and my shirt and into my eye! There was no extra plate given to put it on, my date went and asked for one from a different server because ours wasn’t around. Terrible dinner for me.
So, upon entering there was a pianist playing which was nice however we wanted to talk and get to know each other so asked to be sat somewhere a little quieter. We weren’t taken to the back where there were many open tables we were sat in the middle at a small 2 person table NEXT TO THE SERVER STATION! Within a few minutes a server dropped some silverware and we jumped a little. Then in the middle of our dinner another server dropped right next to us what sounded like a small bomb! It was lots of silverware and other dishware that practically scared the shit out of us! We were dressed nice and can’t imagine with all the tables around us open why we were sat here.
Lastly, when I made reservations I was asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes a birthday because it was her birthday. Upon entering and walking up to the host station the host said I see you’re here for a birthday! Well, so much for any surprise. Well we finished eating and I paid the $240 bill (included 2 drinks and an 18% tip) and the server never brought anything for the birthday nor ever mentioned it. Any other time I would have complained about all of this, except I’m with a date that I recently met and didn’t want to complain in front of her. I would highly recommend to never eat here and I live in Melbourne FL where they are located so shame on them. I review a lot of places and usually with photos, however this was a date with a woman I recently met so I didn't want to take pictures or complain in front of her or...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant to celebrate a special birthday, just the two of us. We were sat in bar area where the piano player was playing a nice variety . Our server took our drink order and eventually our appetizer order as well. After receiving drinks, a bread basket was left at our table with no plates, later our appetizer hot grilled octopus was quickly dropped off by a different server who took off rather quickly after doing so. I looked around for a server but they were helping customers outside , and when inside they were inside at the bar, they were busy talking with each other. I motioned with my hand not one looked over, I made eye contact with one that just grinned and walked off. It took quite some time before our waitress who had been to the bar multiple times already finally decide to look over and I had her come over. She asked how everything was very aloof and I explained unless we were going to slide our plate of food back and forth we didn't know since there were no plates. Of course the food was no longer hot by this time. I then observed her say something pertaining to what I had said ,to her co- workers because their heads popped up and looked right at me. The food was not bad, but quite honestly the meal lacked flavor. The scallops were prepared blackened and there was a small amount of rice in the center of the plate which made the dish come across as dry. The 5 scallops were prepared properly but no butter or sauce just dry. The music stopped playing at about 8pm, the servers were hanging out at the bar just being loud talking with each other and banging dishes and gathering table clothes while we were still eating our meals. The waitress attempted to take our food plates as we were still eating. Not a polite or even mild mannered are you still eating but a rushed loud oh your not done yet. The resturant according to online stated they do not close until 10:00 pm . It was only 8:20pm. I have never been to a restaurant that claimed to be such a great dining experience and have such a horrible experience! The service and the atmosphere was the main reason I gave such a poor review! Very unprofessional staff and the fact you ask patrons on the menu to turn the ringers off on their phones while it sounds like a teen girls restroom when the servers gathered at the bar! Maybe you will have better luck than we did, But we would rather spend our money especially at those prices at Kyle G's or even...
Read moreNot an acceptable experience. My wife found this restaurant online and made reservations for New Year's Eve 3 weeks before our visit on New Year's Eve. At no time did their website indicate that the menu would be prex fixe. No one said this when we called to make the reservation, and no one called us after we made the reservation either (....despite the waitress claiming they did call some people). And, NO, it was not just us that were deceived. As the waiters went to each table, each one of them tried to awkwardly spin the situation with the obviously disgruntled and disappointed patrons. Some were better at this deception than others. But it was apparent that many knew the owners were making them party to a money-grab devised to take advantage of the holidays. Perhaps some people got up and left. We didn't see any. However, imagine you've had reservations for New Year's Eve for three weeks and you drive an hour to a restaurant way down a little street for your New Year's Eve meal. Are you now going to get in your car (which was parked by the valet) and try to find another restaurant on New Year's Eve??? Good luck. Pretty clever of them I guess...(?)...Fortunately we can afford to be hit with a $500 dinner bill for two and not be stressing about it for much or all of 2024. However, I am sure others who were there were shocked at the base price of $150 per person plus additional fees for anything deviating from the prex fixe (& these deviations were carefully written in infinitesimally small letters on the prex fixe menu-- see pictures). Yes, we had looked at the menu and knew it was a high end restaurant. This was actually something we had planned on. But we had also anticipated being able to pick and choose what we spent our money on and what exactly we would be having for such an expensive and special meal. There's actually more sad detail I could share about how disappointing this experience was, but I feel this is enough. Except maybe just this: I hope these owners realize that the holidays are supposed to be a time where we all share in celebration, and taking advantage of others at this time of year to make a quick buck is...
