COVID era review. All staff were properly masked. Limited seating capacity, and tables sanitized between customers.
I've reviewed Frank Grisanti's before, but I never want to pass up an opportunity to boost up one of Memphis's finest eating traditions. Located in the Embassy Suites, Grisanti's has been a favorite dining experience for me and my family for over twenty years. If you ever get a chance to eat here, you will be experiencing a Memphis family restaurant fixture that has endured for many, many years. The Italian cuisine is authentic family recipes that have no equal anywhere in the city, or beyond for that matter.
Manicotti is the go to choice for us, featuring a blend of veal and spices in a pasta shell, covered in the unique red meat sauce. It comes with a side of spinach that is almost buttery in texture. Start your culinary excursion with famous toasted ravioli appetizer, accompanied by the above mentioned red sauce. Follow it with a Miss Mary's salad, then the manicotti, or the pasta pomadoro, with delicious goat cheese, kalamata olives, tomatoes, and spinach mixed with penne pasta, to which you can add chicken or shrimp. Over the years I've sampled everything on the menu, and I have never, ever been disappointed. The wine list is carefully selected to feature a variety of flavorful wines, my favorite being the chianti. Get some tiramisu or cheesecake for dessert. Tonight the Italian sundae was unavailable, but try it if you ever get the chance.
I am glad to see Grisanti's at Embassy Suites survive the COVID madness. Here's to a restaurant full of happy customers in the days to come. If they leave the table half as happy as I always do, they won't know what to do...
Read moreThis is my favourite of the Grisanti Restaurants. Not a native and having had the best of Pittsburg and Boston's North End, I found the food at Ronnie Grisanti's too salty. Having eaten at Frank Grisanti's is fine. I recently had lunch with friends. The Restaurant is impeccably clean, no cooking odors and the service was attentive and spot on. I had a delicious Chicken Ceasar. My companions had the Chicken Gumbo. They raced of the taste, not overly spiced served hot. A generous serving , both took supper home. The other gals had Chicken Parmesan. No complaints, as visiting stopped and enjoying the great food began. My comments on the saltiness of Ronnie Grisanti's should not offend everyone. Italians brought their family treasures with them to America. This country's many beautiful cities contain beautiful Italian communities who feed us with exquisite food. At Frank Grisanti's you are welcomed as soon as you approach the Restaurant. It is a very popular restaurant in the Memphis area. You may want to make reservations. I'll be going back to this...
Read more12/23/22, we made reservations for dinner at this restaurant. When we arrived, we stood at the hostess desk for a while with no service. I called the restaurant to let them know we had arrived. I spoke to Lauren and she said “I’m not sure what the issue is here”Then asked if I had dialed the right number or was I trying to reach the front desk of the hotel. After the back and forth, I asked for her name and hung up. As we were leaving, a female with no name tag came to seat us in the front of the restaurant where it was freezing cold. She said it would be a longer wait for the warm area with closed doors. Needless to say we left and will never return again. I did email the restaurant the same night so that management was aware of this interaction (no response). Poor service and rude employees must be the norm here as Lauren was way too comfortable being rude. I value good customer service anywhere I’m spending my money. 1 star is too high for this restaurant. I would rate them a -negative 5 stars if that...
