I left a less than complimentary review a few days ago after a mix up on my Doordash delivery order. I was SO bummed out that only one burger was delivered to my door when I ordered two. This was after bragging to my friend that Huey's had the best burgers on the planet, and that's what I wanted for my Birthday dinner. Catfish fingers , when you have a seafood allergy, was disappointing to receive as I watched my friend pig out on his juicy Huey's burger. In all fairness... he DID offer to split it with me, but I knew it would be just enough to leave us both wanting more! Lol. I did explain that I would probably try again, cuz stuff happens, even though Doordash point blank told me " Sorry I was just S.O.L" about getting my money back. Well, as promised I am updating my past review tonight. I ordered 2 Bluff City burgers this afternoon for a late lunch, and I am SO glad I gave Huey's a 2nd shot at it. I have been eating @ Hueys since they first opened in Midtown, and I have fond memories of the best food & service! I worked around the corner, and ate there 3 or 4 days out of the week. I am happy to report today the burgers were SO delicious that as we ate all you could hear was the sound of OOOs & Ahhhs inbetween bites. OMG! These burgers could NOT have been any more DELICIOUS!!! I received an email asking me to reach out to the owner, so that he could make it right , as he apologized to me for the mix up on my birthday dinner. I ordered before I got the email, so I don't THINK the kitchen was just showing off, or trying to correct their 1st mix up. I don't know if they knew I was trying a 2nd time, or not, but I will say, I was mighty glad I tried again. I will DEFINATELY be ordering their food again. I think it's sad that good service has become a thing of the past at MANY places these days, but I am SO happy that HUEY'S remembers how to treat people right! Thank You VERY much for your kind words, and I will be a customer forever, or as long as this old gal lives. THANK YOU ,THANK YOU, THANK...
Read moreMy husband and I usually have at least a pleasant experience, but not today. We arrive in the early part of the 12am hour. I know because I checked my watch while walking into the building. We take a sit and order two beverages from the bar shortly after. The drinks came out quickly. We ordered a tossed salad and a veggie burger with fries when the waiter delivered the drinks (which usually doesn't take too long too recieve). Several minutes went by before I started to begin to wonder where the food was. I know this because at the very least four songs played on the radio (i was singing along to those four for sure...adele, temptations, a folk song and one more). So, the four songs I can account for would more than likely calculate to around 10 minutes of play time. This little bit of information is important because after several more minutes of watching other parties walk in and order, another party across from us eat, pay and leave, and then trying to get our server's attention who had took more orders, brought out more drinks and food, cleaned and stirred a single canister of tea for several minutes; we were completely over it. Our waiter NEVER came back to our table to make sure we were fine. When we finally got his attention after he seemingly, purposely not making eye contact with us I asked if there was an issue with the food. In response, he decided to chuckle and say "it's only been eight minutes." This immediately makes our blood boil because it's a clear lie! At this point, we ask to pay for our drinks and leave. We couldn't even speak anymore because of the level of angry we were. We enjoy eating locally. We understand the importance of supporting your hometown businesses. After all the good experiences we have had this one will make it hard to go back there. The overall lack of accountability was disgusting. If you forgot to put the order in or if the kitchen is backed up, please communicate that. However, to respond to your customers as though they are crazy, delusional or unreasonable...
Read moreSo I travel a lot and I like to conduct unofficial research for example 'how restaurants people. I often do this in many roles such as customer and delivery driver. Delivery driver is my favorite because you get the most sincere treatment from a restaurant given that you are not paying them for good service. And that is why Hueys Cordova consistently fails. Multiple times I arrive and am constantly ignored where there are multiple instances for interaction. And I'm not harsh, I understand restaurants are busy with multiple tasks that are not apparent to the usual person but I've worked in multiple restaurants so I've got an eye for service. So when there are staff holding conversations right next to you about you as if you don't have ears, or a bartender that just drops the food in front of you and walks off, I have no problems leaving 1 star for a place that clearly demonstrates a disrespectful attitude. It's a shame because Hueys is supposedly a great Memphis institution and ill be honest, Hueys food is better than 90 percent of similar restaurants in America... but none of that matters because Hueys Cordova clearly has a poor culture that has persisted as long as I've lived in Cordova (30 years)...so while waiting I read that one of the staff is transferring to the Poplar location. I just hope that the garbage treatment I have experienced here does not migrate to the Poplar location if it doesn't already exist there...best wishes... (emoji of a...
