I've been eating at Molly's since 1991, and have always been a huge fan of this place. I hope the owner reads this, and understands it is coming from the most respectful of patrons, and I share my opinion only because I don't want to see Molly's disappear. I'm going to say the same things many others have. I dined yesterday- Sunday. My queso flamiado was not right- it used to contain house made sausages, marinated tomatoes, onion, and garlic. What I got yesterday had either very cheap hamburger meat, or ground pork in the bottom (that was unseasoned), no vegetables and the cheese on top was way overdone. My guacamole was a very high quality avocado, smashed into a bowl- no cilantro- no lime- no onion- no salt- no pepper. The yellow queso, which is the bedrock on which Molly's was built- was unseasoned- I'm not even sure how to describe it- a flour based roux plus milk- gravy? It wasn't right. no cumin- no black pepper- no salt. The polo mole was good- but lacked salt. The beans.... another part of the "bedrock" of Molly's were not right- they lacked the salt and garlic I've come to expect- and I feel like the beef or pork fat they used to contain is now gone- which leaves them chalky and unpleasant. The beef enchiladas were good, cheese and onion enchiladas were good. Salsa was ok- but again- it was missing the little cilantro hit and had no salt. I would ask the owner to please taste the food during the shift- maybe that's where the disconnect is? If not- then hire me, I will come in there and help you fix it. But if you dismiss this review and stack it with many others that say the same thing- Molly's future is in jeopardy. The thing that makes Molly's great- is Molly's menu, done right. I don't want to go anywhere else- that's not even up for discussion- but we need to get things pointed in a better direction. If Molly herself came and sat down for dinner with me yesterday, she would have either wept into her apron, or she would've jerked someone by the back of the neck and drug them all the way back to the kitchen- yelling the entire time. To the owner- please be reactive- your hair is on fire- this is important- you have to make a correction. If you need help, then message me. If you think the food tastes correct, then you have to find someone else to be the official "taster" because it's not right, it's not even close, and I apologize with all my heart for having to be the one to say it. I mean no disrespect at all, but please listen to what we are telling you- your food needs some help, you are cutting corners and we can tell, it's not seasoned, not anything close to what it once was, and you have to change this immediately- no excuses- just...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Molly's La Casita and my very last. I will not be returning. I gave this restaurant one star on here because Google would not allow me to post without selecting at least one star. I actually give this restaurant 0 stars. When my partner and I received our food we were extremely disappointed. The appearance of the food was not very presentable at all and the taste was just as bad. We attempted to eat the meals and decided that it was not worth eating. The food here is like it was frozen and straight out of the can. It was awful. We told the waitress about our food and she asked if we wanted to see a manager. We told her yes. The manager, Brian Chapman, came out and we informed him of our issues and he refused to remove the meals from our ticket. His demeanor was not very pleasant or very accommodating at all. The only thing he was willing to do was to replace my partner’s beans that came out cold. He said that he could add cheese to my chimichanga for 75 cents more. He did not bother to ask if we wanted to order something else in place of the meals we had. The manager, Brian Chapman, seemed as if he didn’t have time to assist us. He was at our table for a split second just to inform us that he was not going to take the meals off of our ticket and he hurriedly rushed off. Speaking of rushing off, there was this waitress there that was literally running every time she passed by our table. I have never experienced anything like this from any restaurant in my entire life. Please proceed with caution when ordering from Molly’s La Casita’s menu, because what you order is what you are going to pay for without any accommodations due to the horrible tasting food. I ordered the Original Chimichanga and my partner ordered the Flautas de POLLO. The beans really concerned me. They actually looked like dog food mixed with beans. Please see the picture for yourself if you need proof. What do you think? For those that gave this restaurant at 3 and 4 stars, you should definitely visit Maria’s Cantina in Southaven, Mississippi at 6717 Airways Blvd or El Molino’s in Memphis, TN at...
Read moreDeliver milk across the street often. Today I decided to try this place. I eat a mostly keto diet which they’re menu is decent for.
Ordered two relleno peppers and the Mexican spinach instead of rice and beans. Personally i have never had relenos done with a dry ancho was reluctant, but they were very good. With a couple minor change’s would be great. First the spicy taco meat is a bit dry, should be fresh at 11am. Maybe try mixing some cheese sauce with the meat before stuffing the peppers? Secondly they were just a bit overcooked which made it difficult to cut, actually broke the plastic fork halfway through the second. Now the mexican spinach was great. My only complaint with this t is if I’m subbing two sides maybe put an extra scoop in?
Now since I ordered takeout i got my ticket before the food of course. I noticed a 10% service fee. At first I thought maybe its to cover the togo box snd plastic ware. Then wondered why call it a service fee? Total was 17.03 which I originally planned just leaving a 20. I looked at google reviews and noticed that they charge a 10% and a 20% service fee for takeout and dine in. Takeout technically shouldn’t have a tip cost but I typically do if I’m treated well. Dine in should be totally up to the customer. If the server just did their job and nothing more 10%, if they did they’re job well 15%, if they do they’re job and are personable interact well with customers 18-20%. It id a service oriented job and is paid based off the service you receive. No different than getting a raise at a hourly job for doing well. Do a good job and the majority of customers will tip well. Giving an automatic 20% tip which is high industry standard gives no incentive to give great service. I could honestly see a 10% service fee, then we the customers could decide to tip more or not. This is not a good practice in my opinion.
Pricing was a bit high but not horrible. I just figure because of location compared to where I would normally eat Mexican food.
Atmosphere was pretty good but wasn’t very busy so i can only go off what i had experience...
