My partner and I did not feel overly welcomed in the space, while it seemed that other customers were attended to really well. We had to wait an inappropriate amount of time (almost 30 min) before we were even acknowledged by the wait staff after being seated. It took us asking 4 people (truly) before water even came to the table, whereas the couple sitting next to us received their water immediately. The tables near us also had their servers checking in on them frequently, whereas we only received interactions when our food was being delivered. We also asked for the check twice before it finally came, whereas our same server asked the couple next to us if they wanted their check and brought it out , immediately. We sat down well before that table (almost 30 min) and they received their drinks before us.
As far as the food goes, I ordered the burger medium-rare, and it was tasty. My partner ordered a Hot Toddy and it was lukewarm and unpleasant. His lobster roll also had shell fragments and the dish as a whole lacked a lot of flavor (it was overpriced for the quality of the dish). The dessert was fine.
Overall, the atmosphere was pretty, however we will not be back. We did not like the feeling that we were potentially being treated differently or...
Read moreGreat Food, But Some of the Worst Service We’ve Had
We came here to celebrate my daughter’s academic accomplishment, and unfortunately, this dinner was a complete letdown. While the food itself was good, the service was shockingly poor and overshadowed everything else.
Our appetizers came before our drinks, and they were just dropped on top of the menus still on the table—no attempt at presentation, just messy. My daughter asked for a straw, and the server forgot. The little things started adding up fast.
We barely saw our server after that. Our appetizer plates sat in front of us for over 10 minutes, untouched. When our entrées finally came (brought by someone else), the order was wrong and had to be sent back. I asked where our server was and was told, “Oh, she’s done for the night.” No one told us. No new server introduced themselves. Just… gone.
We waited again for dessert (which was good), but by that point, the damage was done. No manager ever checked in. No one making rounds. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. It felt like no one cared.
This place has potential—but based on our experience, we won’t be coming back. It was disappointing from start to finish, especially since it was supposed to be a...
Read moreHere's the deal with brunch at the British Banking Club: it's fantastic! The food is great. The menu has more options than your standard fancy brunch but not so overwhelming as a Hobee's. The cocktail menu and beer & wine options are also fabulous. The staff is friendly. The space beautiful inside with a great patio option as well.
The best part of all is that there is never, ever a line. In fact it's empty most Saturdays and Sundays that we come here. There'll be a line out the door next door and no one at BBC, despite better food, drinks, atmosphere, patio space, and service.
Really the only reason that I'm telling folks about the gem that is BBC's brunch is because I want to make sure that they have enough customers to keep it going. Even if they had a line, they're still one of the best brunches in all of the peninsula...
