Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Mentor

Jimmy Johns is my absolute favorite sub place. Which is why I’m so sad to write this, on top of the fact that I never leave reviews like ever. I am just hoping maybe this will contribute to some positive change. I’m aware a lot of this change has occurred during the pandemic which may be due to short staff and things like that. But on multiple occasions I’ve arrived to this location between 2-2:15 after my class, I’d try to order at the window and be told that they were currently only accepting mobile orders or call ins. So I would try and place an order for one sub on my phone, but mobile ordering is disabled. Then I tried to call the store just to give it another shot before I have to head to work after class. I called once or twice this day with no answer. A lot of this may be just due to staffing issues that ultimately I understand. But when during the very limited hours you are open you basically decline service like that it can be kinda disappointing. I have had mobile orders confirmed and then cancelled 20-30 minutes later while I’m already in the parking lot for it. This was my preferred location and favorite sub place (particularly the #9) but over the course of the past couple years I have began to stop coming. I’m hoping this location can make some changes for the better with these kinds of recent reviews in mind as I still have hope for improvement!

Update, August 2022: I recently was driving by and noticed JJ’s was still open at 6, so I though maybe things had changed since my previous review in 2021, and decided to give it a chance. Just as I had hoped, this location provides really great service just as it once had, and I really think the employees are even nicer. I thought back to this review since I never really write them and thought I should adjust it! I have been here multiple times in the past few months and have been so happy each time that Jimmy Johns is back :) I do not have their names, but there’s two in particular that I remember always being extremely helpful and kind when I visit. The one employee always greets me as “beautiful” and is smiling & the other always compliments my necklace or t shirt, and I really recommend they get a raise, just saying! It’s a quick dinner or lunch after work and sometimes after a long day those little exchanges in the drive thru brighten up your day in comparison to our interactions with people on the daily. I have worked at a Jimmy John’s. I’ve been ordering Jimmy John’s for almost 20 years. I order the same sandwich everywhere I go, never in my life have I had as many problems as I have with this location. I ordered a number nine with no veggies. It is a very simple order. There’s nothing special about it and almost every time I order from this location it is wrong tonight. I even went inside so that there couldn’t be any miscommunication and I checked one of my sandwiches before leaving. Of course I checked the one sandwich that was right and the other sandwich was wrong again. I don’t leave many reviews, but when I do, it’s because I feel truly disappointed in the service I’ve received and that’s how I feel about this Jimmy John’s location for the first time in my life. I am leaving a negative review on a Jimmy John’s, which I’ve never done the people who run this place Are clearly all related somehow I walk in and I feel as though I am disturbing them like I just walked into their home and they don’t want to work when I call and I try to be polite about the complaints. Absolutely ridiculous. I went in to order dinner for my family. It was the first time that I've ever eaten at Jimmy John's. I ask please put the lettuce and tomato on the side. And he told me we can't. I waited a minute and ask again and he said no we don't do that. So I ordered one sandwich andnothing else. As they were making the sandwich I asked again and he told me no they could not put it on the side. They could have put the lettuce and tomato on a rapper and folded it up. First and last time in Jimmy John's. There were three employees there in the front when I walked in none of them spoke to me I had to speak to them first.
