Chapelure is one of my favourite coffeeshops in Lansing. It is also my favourite bakery. It may not be what you're expecting, if you imagine it is going to be an American-style bakery the first time you walk in. Chapelure is an Asian and French-inspired patisserie and cafĂŠ. Some common favourites are frequently on offer, such as eclairs and tarts, but there are also occasionally unusual or seasonally-inspired pastries, such as spiced pumpkin creme-filled pastries and mango chiffon cake.
Speaking of cake, Chapelure is the place to go if you are looking for a cake that is as beautiful as it is tasty for a birthday or other occasion.
By way of drinks, they have a full coffee shop menu, including caffè lattes, cappuccinos, chai lattes, and teas.
I used to study here a lot during undergrad, which sometimes meant spending hours in one place. Luckily, their seating is generous and pretty comfortable, and they have a small assortment of sandwiches for when you've overdone the...
Read moreVery disappointed. Tried their pastries, and I was beyond unimpressed. Thin and crispy cherry and apple danishes for nearly $4 each, chocolate filled pastry was dry and crispy and $4, salted caramel brownie was the best thing even though it seemed undercooked, about $3 for it. You can get MUCH better baked goods at Meijer, Kroger, Quality Dairy, Sam's Club, for a fraction of the price. I mean even Starbucks and Biggby have better baked good, and desserts. The place was clean and tidy and the staff was nice. That's just not reason enough to come back. I mainly came at opening for a cannoli, which they said they wouldn't have until later in the day. I really wanted to like this place considering it's not a chain restaurant. The reviews are very misleading, or maybe they have recently changed within the last couple months. Nonetheless, I wouldn't recommend anyone to...
Read moreI've been to Chapelure many times and it never fails to delight me. I've tried so many of their pastries and it's hard picking my favorite. The specialty coffees are all great, but I usually just get plain brewed coffee - it's the best I've found in Michigan. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. I have a secret - I'll often go there for breakfast and I bring a peeled hard boiled egg in a plastic sandwich bag so I can have protein to go with the fantastic sweet pastries. They do have ham and cheese croissants, but I often want the almond bear claw or something chocolate instead, so this works for me. They know I do it, and...
