Excellent sushi and Asian style food options. The sushi options are many and varied. All of the fresh seafood seems extremely fresh and beautifully presented. There is a large sushi bar, so you can see some of the assembly of sushi items. There is also a special raised seating area. Diners sit on the floor with their legs below floor level. A different and fun way to enjoy a meal. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restrooms are clean. The only negative is the beer pricing. A pint of a local craft beer, Old Nation, M-43, was about $7.50. Local grocery stores sell pint cans for abt $3.50 or $3.25. Other area restaurants, like the Brookshire Inn and Blue Gill Grill, sell draft craft pints for abt $4. Domestic bottles @ 12 oz , are often less than $4. So ... come for the food, and watch your bar tab carefully. ☺
Update August '23: This place is currently short handed. But many places are. The sushi dishes are beautifully prepared. Most sushi dishes seem reasonably priced. But the beer and liquor prices seem inflated. Imported bottles are abt $7. Domestic brands might be a dollar less. We ordered Soju for abt $16, a 16oz bottle. Hadn't had it in a while. Later went to retail store. Bought similar imported Soju for $6. So figuring wholesale to restaurant pricing, vs retail store pricing; Sansu is selling it for abt 2x over their cost. Seems very excessive to us. Many other local bars & restaurants sell domestic bottles and cans for $3 to $4. One local restaurant has domestic cans for as little as $2.50. Their small complimentary salad is iceberg lettuce with ginger sauce. No other veggies in there. It's simple, and adequate. Their complimentary miso soup is very good. But, now instead of a nearly full small bowl, they are serving, literally, abt 1/2 of a small bowl. Looks like cutting corners to save a few pennies. It's disappointing from an otherwise well managed first-rate...
Read moreAgh, I do not know why I returned back to this place. With the exception of the food quality, this place dissapoints me. The price for sushi and entrees is typically $1-$3 more than any other sushi restaurant in the area, but what really is the buzzkill here is the service.
Service. Is. Horrible.
My co-worker and I went back here for a late lunch around 1PM on a weekday. Had to wait a few minutes to get a seat, but after at least 15 minutes we still had not been asked about drinks or greeted by our waiter. A few minutes later, moments before we were about to get up and leave our waiter came. The waiter unapologetically asked for our drinks and we ordered immediately in fear we might never see him again, and we didn't not until 10 minutes after we got our food from someone else, which was 30 minutes after we ordered. Grand total of 40 minutes since the last time we saw him. I am pretty sure I saw other people get up and leave as well.
The saving grace was the food, it was fresh and tasted good, but only as good as it could taste after it was soured by the customer experience we had received. I am not sure I will ever be back here, it will definitely take alot of convincing from my co-workers to get me back and I am not even sure they want to come back even though they were Sansu enthusiasts!
Never did our waiter apologize. I really think he thought he was a good waiter and was doing a swell job. The 2 stars is for the actual food, since it was fresh and tasted good. If I could have given my tip to the chefs directly, I would have.
Save your time and money and go to AI Fusion, weekday specials and a bartender/staff that actually...
Read moreHad some issues with food allergies while ordering. Personally, I love shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. They have a lunch combo with those two rolls, perfect! I notified my waitress of my food allergy. She was extremely diligent and understanding when figuring out what items had sesame, and what would work for me. I opted to keep the combo, requesting that they substitute regular tuna for spicy tuna, which I was allergic to.
I was notified by my waitress that I would have to order the rolls al acarte and that it would be more expensive as it was no longer a combo.
I'm not a Karen, and I try to be understandable of everyone's business practices, but that rubbed me the wrong way. I understand if I were just trying to be difficult, or trying to get something more expensive for cheaper, but it was due to a food allergy.
Seeing my displeasure, my waitress went to talk to her manager and returned letting me know that they would make a one time exception, keep the combo price, and substitute spicy tuna for regular tuna.
Again, I couldn't be happier with my waitress she was amazing and handled the situation very well. Disappointed by the food allergy policy. She even brought me two small bowls, one with mayo; sriracha in the other to make my own spicy mayo. She was amazing!! I am so sorry I don't remember her name.
All told, the rolls were really very good! Both my friend and I had a very nice lunch and the atmosphere was...
