Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Meridian

absolutely terrible service i usually go to the star location as that is the closest to me. Today i went to the village location and it was horrible if you are debating cafe rio between costa vida go to costa vida. I ordered 2 kids meals and for the first quesadilla i noticed the tortillas used at this location is significantly smaller than the other locations. The star location also allows me to upgrade the side of chips and salsa to chips and queso for a little up charge which i dont mind but when i asked the guy was absolutely rude about it told me there wasnt an option for that at all even after telling him i have gotten it mutiple time at other location and didnt mind paying extra but he insisted there was so way at all he could do that. then during my second order i explained i wanted the same thing but gluten free which i explained was a allergy not preference he then asked if i wanted it with a corn or flour tortilla which made me nervous as he didnt know what gluten is he then proceeded to not change his gloves after handling gluten then putting it on the same grill without cleaning it after gluten and used the same brush to brush on oil as all the non gluten free items. this staff was also incredibly rude about all this. never coming back to this...

I wish I took pictures. All the salsa and beans sitting in the heating element had dry crusty tops, it looked like the food was placed out there yesterday and they left everything on overnight. The avocado that they brought from the back because they were out of guac also looked like it had been sitting out on the counter overnight, it was brown. I think brown was their favorite color because that was also the color of the mint lemonade. They only fresh looking food was the lettuce. Trash was overflowing in the trash cans. None of the tables were clean. When we walked in there only were two other pairs of custom there already seated and eating, no one in line, and a lot of employees (about 10) behind the counter, but none of the staff was working on cleaning or up keep of the dining area even though it obviously need it and was not a rush. I haven’t been to Cafe Rio in a long time and was not aware they had a drive thru. I work in The Villages of Meridian area and decided to try the app. I place an order and paid through the app. I arrived at the drive thru at my expected pick up time and no one answered at the speaker, so I drove around. The server came to the window and I told her I drove up because no one answered. She said she was talking to another customer. Before I could tell her I was there to pick up my order, she told me to drive back around through the drive thru. Umm, no! I told her I am here to pick up my app order. She told me it wasn’t ready, something about the cheese is still melting? and to pull around to the signs and wait. I didn’t wait long and the same server delivered my order.
