Very disappointed. Yesterday we ate here and I was disappointed during and afterwards, yet today I'm just plain upset.
There is no value to the food, everything is 50% overpriced but that would be OK if the food was good, but it's mid at best. Treated my friend since he had never had hummus or babaganoush, we had the appetizer for two (12.99 plus 1.00 for cilantro and jal) then we both had a chicken kebab (17.99)
The hummus was the only thing really good that we had, a unique, bold and well executed blend of jalapeno and cilantro into our familiar favorite appetizer, i was pleased and simultaneously surprised given im from the south and speak Spanish that ive never seen this before. Pita/naan was only ok, no flavor or texture.
The chicken was underseasoned but most importantly the portions were immediately noticeable as much less than any kebob houses i frequent back home, the rice flavorless, salad dressing was OK. Again, no value is OK if the experience and flavor are there yet neither were.
The service was horrible, our waitress could not describe the beverages or food AT ALL, and I was asking many questions for my first timer friend's benefit. She would literally be walking away as im asking her questions and she was either too shy to be a waitress or didnt speak much English (I don't think that's the case), after the meal she brings the handheld pay at table device and just thrusts it in our faces, no explanation, doesn't tell us how much we owe and somehow I owe 43 dollars.
She very awkwardly stands there as the chip reader was not reading and offers no explanation and, like usual, speaks zero words, and finally I just pay to get out of there. Then the same awkward 3 minute procedure as my buddy pays his entrée and our conversation was so weirdly interrupted and I'm just staring at the wall avoiding her gaze.
I love eastern foods and would gladly overpay at my favorite kebab house but the food here is not at all worth it and the service worse.
I do however recommend the blood orange soda, no it's not worth 3.99 but it is unique and somewhat subtle and delicious and it was an experience which is why you come to places to overpay and have zero value. Everything else tasted like sysco truck foods cooked by first year kitchen staff ans that particular waitress was the worst.
There was another employee who appeared to be waitressing some tables and she was well dressed and communicating well with customers, a beautiful young woman and I feel our experience maybe would have been different if she had served us.

Zullee Mediterranean Grill’s fourth location opened in Meridian in August 2022. Formerly known as Kabob House, the first location opened in Yakima, Washington in 2011. There was briefly a location in Union Gap, which is right next to Yakima, but it closed. There is also a location in Spokane, Washington and one in Richland, Washington. In 2021, owner Ahmed Baqer changed the name to Zullee Mediterranean Grill because he plans to franchise and expand his business beyond Washington and Idaho.
Zullee’s has an upscale fast food vibe. There are three ways you can order your food. There’s an app you can download. If you’re doing takeout, there are two computer monitors to the left of the door where you are expected to place your order and pay for your food. You can also dine in. Personally, I do not care for online ordering and was taken back that this was a requirement for a to go order, especially for one who has made the effort to locate and drive to the restaurant, park some distance away (for some reason there were cones all along the front of the business prohibiting parking up close), and walk into a “restaurant.” I would have received more enjoyment and human interaction from placing my order at a drive-in.
I visited on 11/10/22. I ordered a Beef Shish Kabob Dinner ($15.79) with Tzatziki ($.49) to go. The menu description for the meal is “marinated beef, veggies, basmati saffron rice, house salad with ranch, grilled tomato.” If you want a small container of sauce of any kind, you have to pay extra for it.
My salad was fresh but I didn’t like that it was paired with Ranch salad dressing. I would have preferred the option to substitute another kind of dressing, but the online ordering did not give me the option to do that.
My beef shish kabob consisted of four chunks of marinated beef that were fairly well seasoned. A few of the bites were kind of tough, but overall the beef was fine. The “veggies” consisted of 3 small pieces of green pepper and onion used to separate the beef on the skewer. The Saffron rice, which lacked flavor, made up the bulk of the meal. The grilled tomato was more of a garnish.
While there was nothing wrong with the food, it would be fair to say thatZullee’s is the most ho-hum version of a shish kabob I’ve ever had. Zullee’s has a fast food/Americanized approach to Mediterranean food. If you’re visiting The Village in Meridian, most of the options available are fast food, franchises and chain restaurants; Zullee’s is a fitting...
Read moreThis is my first time visiting Zullee. The interior of the place made me feel like I'm in an Apple Store in Dubai. It looks too COOL, like way cooler than what I expected this place to be. It feels like I could bring my HIPSTER friends here. The location seems a bit odd because it's situated in a parking lot of The Village. It's not in the main establishments of The Village even if the interior of this place looks a lot cooler than the restaurants there. There is something very soothing about the interior design. It's not gloomy kind of dark (e.g., Kabob House) but it's not intrusively bright either (like what you feel with most fast-food places). The place feels very cozy...for your Hipster friends. I'm not exactly feel what your mom or dad will feel about this though. The thing with Halal food is, it's one of those things that are liked by people who have tasted a lot of stuff (i.e., foodies in the truest sense). I'm not exactly an expert in Mediterranean cuisine but this restaurant targets the same crowd that looks for Halal stuff. I've ordered the kabob big platter, where you have a choice of skewer. The overall serving size is quite big. Not supersize level big but comparatively bigger than similar restaurants this place is competing with. I paid 18 dollars for my meal (not including tip and taxes). If you'll ask me if it's worth it, I think it is. Meals similar to this are priced almost similarly, though Zullee has a bigger serving size. The flavor profile is where Zullee somewhat deviates. At least that's what I feel about my order. I usually assicociate Halal food with heavy use of cumin. My meal tasted like it had basil. I like both cumin and basil so any would work for me. The ranch....tastes like ranch. I really wished it was garlic sauce but it isn't. To be honest, ranch works well with the kebab, so it did not become an issue for me as much as I think it would. But I still prefer garlic sauce. LOL! Overall, I think this place is a great addition to Meridian. I always envied Boise for having all of the good Halal places. If word of mouth works well for Zullee, I think this place is here to stay. Not like there's anything similar in Meridian that competes with this place. It's something I can easily recommend to my friends. The owner of Zullee seems so ambitious that a lot of money was used in building this restaurant. There's a surreal...
