My Korean mother was visiting me from Colorado and were shopping at the H-mart. This location is inside the H-mart food court, last stall on the left. I had seen previously they make Jjajangmyun (black bean noodles) as well as Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). We ordered one of each as the price seemed to indicate it would be enough for one serving. We were overwhelmed and delighted to find the serving ended up being enough to serve 2-3! The jjamppong was so savory that I had an emotional moment realizing what I had been missing out on for too long. The soup was hardly spicy and I slurped every bite I could. The noodles were exquisite - you could tell they were hand-tossed fresh and were the most perfect chewy consistency. The jjajangmyun came out another 5 minutes later and again a heaping serving for 2-3. The sauce was sweet and I swear I've never tasted sauce so good in any other restaurant. Even my Korean mother was wishing she knew a restaurant in Denver who could make jjajang sauce so tasty. Both dishes truly hit the spot! I will be making more frequent drives back and bringing friends just to try these noodle...
Read moreThe first time I had jjambbong here, it was flawless. This time, I’m rating it high by giving it 3 stars. The cashier was very nice. I ordered a brisket and sprouts jjammbbong to go because my partner had his crab jjambbong there and raved about it. Mine had only a few measly pieces of brisket, so many limp, rotting bean sprouts I had to throw away, and the black fungus mushrooms were left whole and not cut into smaller, more manageable pieces, which would be very overwhelming to someone not familiar with this dish. Had no rich broth flavor like the first time and the brisket and sprouts didn’t add anything worthy to it. So disappointed. Will try once more and order both jjajjangmyeon and jjambbong, but if it’s off like tonight, I will weep until a better place...
Read moreThis is best or close to best jjampong that I had in my life. And I had lots of jjampong even in Korea. Soup was spicy but not as spicy as what you would get in Korea. It was however very rich and full of flavor that I haven't experienced in other places. Portions were decent and presentation was superb. Plenty of squids. I tried this on my third day of 4 day conference trip to Phoenix. It was so good that I went back on my last day for 2nd time as I don't know if I will ever taste it again. I tried brisket jjampong ($15.99) first then regular jjampong ($11.99) second, and they were both good. Not sure if additional $4 for brisket is worth it as regular was...
