Edit: (please read) Ownership responded to my review saying that the offer to remake the order was given to me. This a bold faced lie. I specified in my review that option was not given to me. What reason would I have to construct a well worded criticism specifying that the mistake was never offered to be rectified if indeed it was? Dishonest management is an absolutely massive red flag. Your low integrity disgusts me and I do not use these words lightly.
Original review:
I don’t like to make a stink inside the restaurant because even if the initial experience is bad, I will reflect on everything as a whole before delivering my opinion.
And wow, the high review score deceived me. I will not be coming back here ever again. I wouldn’t recommend visiting this location even if you’re just curious. It is that bad.
Starting with my order, it cost $30 for six tacos. I specifically waited for a Tuesday to order tacos for their special. When I arrived the order was not recorded under the special price (??) so I had to pay full price. You guys need some sort of fine print on menu if the onus is on me to specify that I want the Taco Tuesday price on a Tuesday.
The cashier ringing up the order didn’t offer to fix the order pricing, just said sorry and told me I didn’t specify that I was ordering tacos for Taco Tuesday.
All of this could have been forgiven if the food was actually good. I couldn’t swallow the chicken because it was so dry that it got stuck in my throat. Even the tacos al pastor were so dry I needed to drink something. I’ve never even experienced dry pastor meat before.
The magnitude of this double whammy necessitates a rare one star for me. It’s not often where I experience gross food and bad service in one sitting. I wish so badly that I didn’t pay for this food or had...
Read moreDon’t let the sign fool you into thinking it’s like all the other taco shops around, because it’s not. We found this place by looking at the ratings! And I was like wait is it really that good for a 4.8. Well it was actually great! We arrived after the lunch rush so it had calmed down according to Chuy the owner we later found out. We sat next to the window and we ordered drinks first! When I tell you when my agua de sandía and the Jamaica came out, I was like Go Big or Go home! Once we tasted them, it made our taste buds happy! So refreshing! Then we order chips and salsa and let me tell you! They’d bring out 2 different salsas for you to try one that is mild and the other one which is creamy which is the medium hot, my absolute favorite! When you first taste it, it’s fruity at first and then it hits you just right not in a throat/ nasal passages clearing kind of way yet a good spice! Then the main dishes come out. This food was made with love and care, you can tell it was homemade. The sopes I got were different as far as the tortilla being flat instead of in like a little boat, yet it held the toppings well! The other dish was the 3 taco plate and the meat was juicy and tender. Highly recommend this place! The story behind this business is beautiful and a dream come true for Chuy...
Read more4.5/5. The food taste great and is cooked properly. The dishes look pretty good as far as presentation. Pretty decent Mexican food. Their aguas frescas are delicious. The only reason why can’t give this place a five is because I’m nitpicking. The shrimp taco is a single jumbo shrimp cut in half. Personally, a shrimp taco even if it’s jumbo, which is appreciated should be at least two big jumbo shrimps or 4 to 5 little ones. And their longaniza taco is not straight up longaniza. They cook it with hotdog sausages, which, although I may have a theory why they do it this way, it should straight up be only that meat stated for the taco. Those are the only reason for not being able to give it 5 stars. Customer service and the environment are amazing, we love the food. We’ve been here close to 10 times at this point in...
