We enjoyed Guatemaya very much! My husband went to Guatemala on his mission trip, and he said the food here tasted authentic. I got the Hilachas dish and it was very tasty with good spice and flavor. Next time we're in Arizona, we'll definitely come here again. The staff was also very nice, and the decorations are very colorful. This is a great place to come if you've ever wanted to try authentic Guatemalan food! Also they only accept cash, just a heads up!

I was looking for a Guatemalan place here in Arizona, I am very delighted to find this restaurant. The food is very authentic. Fresh bakery and delicious tamales!! Wow!! The service was spectacular, the ladies are very welcoming and super friendly. We will definitely return. It’s a must try for Authentic Guatemalan food (the place is small, like a small mom and pop shop).

The food is tasty and they give you good portions but the two times I've eaten here, they haven't had half of the things I wanted to order (especially desserts, they never have rellenitos, pastelitos, flan, chuchitos). The caldo de res was very good, highly recommend. The mar y tierra was ok, the chicken seem dry as well as the carne asada seem tough. The pepian is good.

Authentic Guatemalan Food – Worth the Experience (If You Know What to Expect)

As a native Guatemalan, I can confidently say this place is as authentic as it gets. The food is legit, and you’ll truly get the full Guatemalan experience.

That being said, this also includes Guatemalan-style customer service. None of the servers speak English, and there’s definitely no sense of urgency. If you’re used to the American standard of quick and attentive service, this might not be for you. Your food will take time to come out, and servers may occasionally forget items. On multiple visits, their internet was down, so I had to pay cash.

Despite all this, I keep coming back because the food is so damn good. The prices are amazing, and the flavors are phenomenal. Just know what you’re getting into: set your expectations accordingly, and you’ll enjoy a culinary experience that’s absolutely worth it. I highly recommend trying this place if you’re open to something different...

Very disappointed. The menu looks big but when ordering none of the items we wanted were available, we opted for tamales and chicken soup. The soup had no flavor ...like ....no chicken flavor,, garlic or onions or boullion they just added water and warmed it up. The tamales, the menu says rice tamales we got regular masa, we still thought ok but when served the tamales had been smashed up. The only logic for smashing would be to see if it was pork or chicken. The other problem with the tamales was every bite had bones...yes...they left chicken bones in the tamale...I had never ever had a tamale with bones. I had a spoon of soup and left it untouched I complained about the soup and still paid $15 a bowl of soup. Sadly, I don't recommend this place to anyone. They don't represent a good Guatemalan cuisine. The restaurant lacks care as well as their food. The restaurant lacks the clean look and...

I feel bad leaving this review because I really wanted to like this place. I brought a friend who is from Guatemala, to enjoy the food and bakery but it was nothing like the website.

The interior was dirty, you can tell they don’t take care or maintain a clean ambience.

We were looking at the bakery but there wasn’t anything like the pictures. Pretty empty shelves.

After about three minutes, someone came to give us menus. It didn’t seem like there was any employees so I didnt know if we should sit or not.

Everything we tried to order was not available. But after seeing how dirty it was, only my friend ordered something to go.

She had the shrimp, they were pretty big in size but unfortunately hadn’t been cleaned. They still had the dirty veins. Overall it was an underwhelming experience.

I hope the owners put some more love and pride into the place so that others won’t have...
