My partner and I came to this shop, were so excited to be there. We were looking around, grabbing comics and things as we went. We were going to probably spend about $50 or more. As we were browsing, who I am assuming is the owner, approached us and addresses us very rudely. “Y’know I’m gonna have to charge you for those comics, I can’t sell them in that condition”. My partner had accidentally dropped some comics while I was looking at something. I had no idea. He was very gruff with us, giving us a look, and didn’t even really explain what was going on or what had led up to us having to pay for these books. Had he approached us kindly and let us know we had damaged product, I would have happily paid for my items and the damaged books. But the way he approached us was enough for me to never want to visit this place again. We paid for the damaged items and left. People accidentally drop things, it happens, that’s why it is an accident. He needed not treat us like delinquents for an accident, as that is...
Read moreThis is the best comic shop in the east valley. Where other places have employees who act very elitist and make you feel unwelcome, Gotham City Comics welcomes you with open arms. I have been going here for years and the folks behind the counters are informative and genuinely enjoyable to chat with. I have found many new comics I had never heard of based on employee recommendations. Their pull lists work beautifully. You can essentially make a list of comics coming out and they will hold them for you. It's like those comic book stores online but with a more friendly human touch. And you're supporting a local business and families at the same time.
They have Magic The Gathering tournaments there if that is your bag. They sometimes have a yo-yo group come in and teach you and/or your kid how to do tricks for free.
If you're looking for a comic book shop that works hard for and deserves your attention and support look no further than Gotham...
Read moreTo be honest this store has to be , hands down the worst place I have visited to try and buy and sell comics, maybe it was a bad experience because there was only one worker that night we drove all the way from the west side of town after being told on and off for 2 days to come in and bring our comics in to sell, I got all the way down there to find out that we were going to wait 45mins while the employee helped everyone else but us, even tho he started to help us but then suddenly went on helping others making us feel like we weren't there or just arrived. So he liked some of the comics to where 1hr 1/2 later he said he didn't need any comics at all and said Thanx for your time following a few smart azz remarks , so it was not a great experience that being we drove 40mins to sit with thumbs up our butts for...
