If I could give this bakery 0 stars I would. My entire experience was horrible. I called the Saturday before my son’s 2nd birthday to ask if they had availability to make a 6” round cake. They said yes so I placed the order and the girl on the phone asked me to send an email with the specifics and a picture of the car I mentioned I wanted on the cake. She said they were closed Sunday but a baker would reach out to me Monday. I sent the email with the specifics for the cake, frosting, decoration and a sample image of the car for the cake. I hadn’t received a call back by Tuesday afternoon so I called them. The girl at the front desk said the baker was busy and they couldn’t look at my email because their internet was down, but they would call Wednesday. I said no problem I understand. The baker called Wednesday and we discussed what I had written in the email. I went to pick up the cake the following Saturday on my son’s birthday and the decoration was wrong. They first tried to say that maybe I was the one who said it wrong. So I pulled up the email I sent and showed the exact details. They then said they could try to fix it. They had made the car too big and had wrote happy birthday on the plate instead of the cake like I had asked and the border was white frosting instead of the yellow I had put in my email. They squeezed the writing on the bottom of the cake and I said that would do. I had a cupcake while I was waiting and it was very good so I thought the design wasn’t what I wanted but it’ll taste good. I got home and we tasted the cake...it was not the chocolate buttercream frosting I had ordered. The frosting was grainy and way too sweet. Plus there was barely enough frosting to cover the cake on the sides and the top. The vanilla buttercream filling was thicker! My son didn’t eat any of it and my guests agreed it was not buttercream. When I called to explain what had happened the owner was very rude, said “We stand by our cakes” and grudgingly agreed to refund 50% if I came down there in person. So I came down with a piece of the cake planning to talk about it and ask why the frosting was off and so thin. The owner refused to even look at the cake or have a conversation with me again saying “We stand by our cakes.” Then he shoved $15 in my hand, which wasn’t even 50% of the $37.90 cake I paid for and went back to his office! I was so shocked at their awful customer service, dismissive attitude and downright rude and unprofessional behavior. I am not one to write negative reviews but it was not ok how I was treated and I feel it needs to be said. I was very upset and disappointed in this bakery and how they handled the situation. I brought the cake sample in thinking the owner could take a look and see if it was an off batch but he wouldn’t even listen to me. Honestly, if the owners had been kinder and refunded me I never would have written this review because even the best places have off days but they were unbelievably rude with the worst customer service. I...
Read moreWe have bought several cakes over the years for special occasions, important occasions. They used to be wonderful. So when it was time for my 50th birthday, my wife decided to use them. First, she went to make the order and they couldn't do a geode cake because of the instability of frosting that was chosen. That was fine, so in store she spent a great amount of time having it remedied and thought the order was perfect when she left. Then two days before pick up she received a call stating that they could not use the banana cream frosting on the top of the cake due to further instability of the cake. This was not discussed at the time of the order. So then the whole design of the cake had to be changed it was agreed to have a green ombre, which was fine, except after looking at this cake during the party for a while, realized it was a poor quality of design work. The ombre was not a true ombre. The cake was delicious except for the poor balance of the filling that was peanut butter cup and banana, it only really tasted like the banana filling. Being, long time customers, we thought this was a fluke, so a couple of weeks later made an order for our son's high school graduation, a pretty big occasion. So the girl took the order and it was explained thoroughly and price was no object same as the first cake. And a picture was sent through email of the what my wife was looking for. there was no response stating that they received the email or they could not do what was asked. When we went to go pick up the cake it was not close. It was suppose to be a smooth white buttercream frosting cake with heavy gold drizzle over the top and the sides. Pretty basic, right. What we got was a nicely smooth white butter cream cake with tiny little gold drizzles on the side and piping on the top that was not supposed to be there. In the shop at the time of pick up it was explained how expensive the gold was and they only went based on the price that was paid, instead of calling to ask us what we wanted to do. I would have paid for it, again a very special occasion. They offered it after the fact when I stated the price did not matter in this situation. My wife was upset and told them she would take the cake as is, our event was in two hours of pick up. So what is the end conclusion, we will never use Sassy's again to get any special occasion cakes, we will be giving our future business to Lisa's Rum Cakes and Sugar Lips Bakery. Sassy's was much better when Melody was the front face of her business and was taking orders. Much better when it was just the Lindsay and Main location all those years ago. Even the customer service was better then. Also, if you no longer offer a certain frosting for your cakes you need to update your...
Read moreOur personal opinion: Breakfast was the worst we have seen! Hockey puck sausage, egg broken, other slopped over the side. Toast cold. Hash browns were reheated and served after sitting in a heat lamp for who knows how long.Nothing fresh. Slick fast food style hash was what we thought it looked like. Coffee so harsh you have to use a 50/50 dilution of black coffee and hot water. No unsweetened iced tea available. Why didn't they tell me this when we ordered it at the counter. (?) Snippy, dismissive, argumentative, condescending front cashier/server. Def not senior friendly or lady friendly which is surprising given this establishment is lady owned/operated and let me tell you-when the owner is there-the meals are squared away tight, appetizing and perfect. She must have not been overseeing the kitchen area today tho bc she wouldn't have served this up based on our experience here when she is cooking. Taste was so bad on this plate of food, we tried to cover it up with mega pepper to no avail. Still, hash browns were reheated, not served up fresh, yet they purported to have remade them when we requested them to be redone. Uhm no. There was a Real Estate meeting going on in the back of the restaurant, how tacky was that? Otherwise no other customers. I can see why since they no longer honor coupons 2 for one to seniors their business only had us and the Real Estate team. The cashier claimed too many people were copying the coupon so they could no longer honor them. Really, so the one we brought in you could tell was cut out of the fliers in the 55 plus community, obviously not a fake duplicate. But you no longer have any discounts, promos or incentives for seniors-I can see why there were no other cash paying customers. NO more street signs advertising a breakfast for seniors for 7$ or so? Your breakfasts this time around don't really look that good. NO go, not again.... Service was subpar and the server refused to refund those ugly, worn out hash browns. Well, live and learn. IN our opinion, skip this little cozy looking place and head to Cracker Barrel, IHOP or Denny's. They are closer and they serve up such nice breakfasts for much less $$$ and are family friendly with...
