I have celiac disease, and gluten consumption makes me sick. Fortunately, Andele's Dog House offers a dedicated gluten-free menu and consistently provides excellent care to accommodate my dietary needs. Despite my high sensitivity, I can dine here without any issues.
But what truly sets Andele's apart is the exceptional quality of their food. I'm delighted that they offer a diverse selection on their gluten-free menu, including what I consider to be the best green chile enchiladas in town. They also have an array of gluten-free adult beverage options, including hard cider, which pairs wonderfully with their enchiladas. It would be even better if they had it on tap instead of just in bottles.
My family adores the serve-yourself, all-you-care-to-eat homemade chips and salsa bar. The queso is also outstanding. According to both my family and friends, the non-gluten-free offerings at Andele's are equally remarkable.
One unique feature is that they serve baked potatoes, a rarity in town, if that's something you enjoy.
The local atmosphere at Andele's is fantastic with dogs welcome— it's a beloved institution among Las Cruces and Old Mesilla residents, and even visitors from out of town go out of their way to dine here. The popularity often leads to a wait, but the staff works diligently to seat people quickly, ensuring a great dining experience. No reservations are accepted, so be prepared for the wait, but trust me, it's worth it.
The outside seating is the nicest place to sit. The rest of the atmosphere is nothing fancy, but my family loves Andele's so much, we don't care.
There is also an Andele's restaurant across the street from the Dog House, which is larger and fancier (same owners as far as I know). I have yet to eat there, but I will. I hear it's excellent, yet for some reason, most everyone seems to like the Dog House side better.
They also have a vegetarian menu. If you eat gluten-free, make sure you don't confuse the two menus. Not everything on the vegetarian menu is safe for...
Read moreWe took my 8 year old dog out for her birthday as we do every year. We have been bringing her to Andales dog house for about 7.5 years with no issues. We’ve celebrated so many birthdays and events here so we could have our dog apart of everything and again haven’t had any issues until today. We were greeted with “have you ever brought a dog here before?” When yes, we’ve brought our dog to this restaurant for 7.5 years with no issues, she sits in a chair and is well behaved. We were sat at a small table with 3 benches. I asked for a bigger table with chairs and was met with attitude saying they had a wait list and I couldn’t move tables. It was more convenient for us and my dog to have more space at a table so she could have a chair and we could comfortably sit. We also had my toddler with us. So at a crammed table having a dog and a toddler would be difficult for us to have plates close by… I shouldn’t have to explain myself they should’ve just moved us no problems asked. The manager was rude and said that table was meant for 6 people and it’s not her fault we didn’t fit. How freaking rude!!! Well, we did fit just not comfortably… if we didn’t have a dog and toddler no problem it could fit adults not reaching for hot plates! We had high hopes for our server who greeted us with a a friendly attitude… but our high hopes quickly faded. I ordered a margarita that I never received. After receiving my dinner first before the drink I told the server I didn’t want the drink anymore. We needed napkins and condiments that never came. We had to get up and get them ourselves, refills that we never got and we had to again get up and get to-go boxes. It’s like the manager told our server to give us bad service on purpose… So disappointing because I loved Andales but after today I’m sad to say I won’t be back. And also, the bigger tables they said they were saving for larger parties never got sat… so why lie? And not just accommodate your customers without...
Read moreOh, man. I've tasted Cuban in Miami, Mex in LA, Tex Mex in Austin, Tejas in Atlanta and even great Cuban/Mexican in Seattle. I've even stopped in Las Cruces a couple of times. Exited the 10 and pulled into the first Mexican restaurant I saw. I couldn't miss. But this trip, I accidentally ran into Andele's Dog House. Blame it on the kid. We were traveling with her which means we always have to accommodate her. We always have to find the perfect place that not only allows her in but doesn't seat us at some deserted table outside near a parking lot for the privilege . Our kid is a dog by the way. A fifty pound love hound by the name of Gracie. And it was a thrill to see Andele's loves dogs. Probably more than humans. So, in honor of Gracie on this chilly, breezy Tuesday night, they sat us in a warm, cozy outdoor room with a roaring fireplace and space heaters. We started with a couple original margaritas and in-house chips. You just go and grab 'em yourself with your choice of four amazing salsas. You like 'em hot? A couple of the house salsas are pure, joyful fire. Andele's Dog House has fabulous appetizers. But I cut to the chase and skipped to the numero three; a combination of tacos, rellenos, enchilada, refried beans, rice, man I can't remember. You choose either pork, beef and chicken. They border it with a beautiful homemade green Chile sauce. They also have a numero one and two with different combinations of the above. But I do know you choose between their red and green sauce, depending upon what mood you're in. Don't worry; both hit the target. My wife had an enchilada with chicken and guacamole. I could go on but I start getting hungry again. "Cinco estrellas!" says Gracie the quadruped! Thank you, Andele...
