Country Diner Cafe — Restaurant in Mesquite

Gave this restaurant 1 star for the service and thats the only thing that was good here. My wife had the menudo and it was neither spicy nor flavorful. It needed seasoning, some spice and definitely more hominy. She substituted the tortilla for pan blanco (bolillo) and there was no butter at all on it. But if your into your menudo being like this then i would say have at it and enjoy the large portion because they do give you a very large bowl. I had the machaca plate, which is one of my all time favorite mexican dishes and unfortunately it was a disappointment. There was more egg than beef and when i say more egg, i mean thats all it was, 99% egg and one percent beef, which is a terrible ratio. It had little to no onion and tomato and ugh pickled jalapenos. Who puts pickled jalapenos in an authentic mexican staple such as this one. The sides i had were refried beans and hash browns, very disappointing. The beans were just a thin smear and had no flavor, the hash browns same just a small smear of burnt, greasy flavorless potato. The service is good, the price is good but not good enough for the food they serve. First of all, very unfriendly. I ordered chicken fried chicken dinner, which took a long time.(wait) While I was waiting, I went up to the counter to ask the lady a question, she acted like I was bothering her. Waitress didn't even greet me as I walked in. Finally, when my order was ready, she called me to pick it up. I took the meal to my mom at a nursing home, and when I opened her meal, it was the wrong order. I took it back. They gave me the correct order. Chicken fried chicken. Sides were mashed potatoes, pinto beans. They did not put the gravy in the order. My mother said the chicken fried chicken was a little rough. She did not like the beans.
