We ordered takeout on Cinco De Mayo
The food was very flavorful, and a great price. My husband and I ordered the tamale plate. The tamales tasted very authentic, and had a nice flavor. The rice was really good, and so were the beans. Typically if you go to a chain like On the Border, the refried beans are runny and you don’t get that authentic flavor. Especially with the rice.
The salsa had a really good, fresh flavor. The chips were pretty decent. The tortillas were very good. They all came with our meal, which is great. It wasn’t an extra cost and we appreciate that.
HOWEVER, we did ask for an extra tamale on both of our meals and did not receive them as requested. Their receipt is not itemized, so we had to do the math with tax to see if they charged us. Only one was charged extra ($2) and we didn’t get charged for two thankfully, but we were still missing the one we were charged for. I even left a $3 tip for not even being dine in, and I couldn’t check my food before I left since it was packed. This is the reason for 4 out of 5 stars.
I understand that it was busy, especially on Cinco De Mayo. If we dined in, it wouldn’t have been a huge deal to ask for an extra tamale if it was missing. I get mistakes happen. However, whenever you’re in ordering takeout and the customer has no room to check their order, it’s important to make sure everything is correct.
The 15 minute drive to this establishment turned into 30 minutes due to Cinco De Mayo and traffic, so coming back for a $2 tamale would have been pointless. I would have spent that in gas
Will we give Martinez another chance? Most likely. But we will be dining...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant almost every Wednesday for awhile now. The waitress we had was named Elsa I don't know what issue she has, but she really didn't seem to want to wait on us. My daughter and I waited about 20 minutes to get a tea and water, we watched other people come in after us get their drinks before us and the waitress had to walk past us to take them their drinks. Finally after asking the hostess to switch our table so we could have a different waitress our waitress came up and said she would get the drinks for us. Then the remaining two other people from our group of 4 showed up and ordered their food. It took awhile and to top it off there was some kind of metal staple or clip in the rice on one of the orders. I went to find a manager, but Elsa the waitress walked up and so I told her and she said it was just a staple from the bag of rice and that she would say something to the cook. Not the best experience. I'm not saying I won't go back, but I will definitely request a different waitress when...
Read moreI visited this Mexican restaurant with a friend on Friday. I had heard great things about this restaurant, but had never visited in the almost 2 years I’ve lived in Texas and the Mesquite area.
We entered the building and I was surprised how big it was. I was expecting something smaller, but anyways, we were promptly seated. Our server, Elsa, brought us warm chips and salsa and asked what we’d like to drink. My friend and I finally decided what we wanted to eat and placed our order. When the food arrived, it was hot and was exactly what I’d been craving! I ordered the chimichanga with beef fajita meat and it was fresh, tender and seasoned perfectly. My friend ordered enchiladas with extra tortillas and also loved his meal.
The server was excellent, attentive and very kind. The restaurant was clean and a pleasant dining environment. And of course, the food was outstanding! We will...
