Disclaimer: I love Salata, and it hurts that I have to give them anything less than five stars, but last night's visit left a lot to be desired.
After an extremely long day on two different campuses, a colleague and I decided to grab dinner. I introduced her to salata a few weeks ago, and she was hooked, so naturally, that's where we wanted to go.
It was around 7:20ish...this is important.
The young lady making our salads was nice-ish, personality-wise, but very stingy with the food. No lie, I could dang near count the pieces of lettuce in my salad, and she wasn't even giving us full scoops of the toppings.
Then, we got to the third section, and there were no craisins, eggs, or sun-dried tomatoes?!? She very non-chalantly said, "Oh yeah, we're out."
Sidenote: Certain information should be shared before building a salad, and whether or not your ingredients are fully stocked is at the top of the list!
Then, the protein. I always get smoked turkey. Once again, not even a full scoop. When she finished, I was in disbelief. Before me was a "regular sized" salad that was not even close to filling the bowl.
Usually, I struggle to finish the salad, but not with this one! Last night, I was tempted to get another one to go...smh
We dined in, so we watched her prepare other salads and restock the greens and other toppings. I figured they were afraid of running out of greens, which was why she was so light-handed, but no.
Salata is my happy place! I've never had a bad experience, but this was a disappointing one. I think it's the lack of consistency that bothered me. If all the 30+ salads i got from there were sparse, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but this was the first time, and knowing they had the ingredients on hand to immediately restock, made it worse.
We left around...
Read moreLots of ingredient options but nothing special about this place. It’s OVER priced. I paid $19 & some change after a $5 coupon for a wrap & a medium drink. So I would’ve paid approximately $25 for an $8 wrap they advertise, a medium drink & pita chips without the coupon—-still can’t figure the math with that (I did not have any “protein”). I opted not to get the pita chips —they didn’t look appetizing, at all. Moreover, their only option for a kids meal is a “bento box” which consists of six mini sauce size containers & that’s it! No tortilla that comes with it so kids can make a their own wrap or anything. As far as their tea selection, highly disappointed as a tea lover—all 3 tea selections had an astringent taste which is a huge indicator that it had been sitting there for too long—- so I had to go with their prickly pear lemonade. My BIGGEST concern is they use the same tongs to mix every meal & use the same knife to cut every wrap. For your vegan consumers &/or consumers who do not eat seafoods due to their religious beliefs (like myself)—- or perhaps those with certain food allergies —-this is a BIG no no. My daughter & I were excited to try this place for the first time & I was disappointed. Left there with nothing for my little one. It’s a no for me
My first visit and I kind of knew how it worked. The person working behind the counter told me they offered small and regular salads so I chose regular. I pick my lettuces and toppings then chose my salad dressing after trying several choices. Then got Shrimp and croutons. I also was offered a cookie by the check out person. My bill was expensive but the salad looked good so that was ok. As I payed I was offered to make a tip. Not sure what for but I summarily tapped 18%. Still not sure what that was for. So next I asked about my drink. I was never offered one or wasn’t aware it wasn’t offered. The young person who checked me out told me they had a water cup which I took. So far I was a bit perturbed but didn’t react. I asked about eating utensils and was told they were over yonder. Then I sat down to my meal and realized it could probably feed a family of 4. No wonder it was so expensive. Never was I guided through the process and had no clue that a regular in this place meant Jumbo. I began to eat and stay in the location even though it was very hot in the place. No AC that you could tell and I feel it was heat if anything. I ate half of my salad and left because my head was banging from the loud music all on base. I won’t go back but whoever owns this place needs to train the associates and turn down the damn music. No one ever walked in the dinning area to offer anything or ask if I was happy. What in Gods name was...
