I wanted to love this place, but I just couldn't. Firstly, the entrance is at the side of the building, and there are no signs to point to it, which makes it hard to find. When I was there the front door was left open... in the middle of Miami...in summer... while serving raw fish... that left room for a lot of fruit flies. The theme was my biggest qualm. As you enter, on the left there is an area that has all the cherry blossoms and private area- but it's at the entrance, and essentially everyone is seeing you as they walk in. The area isn't that big, it probably has 4 seats over there with the exception of bar stools.Once you walk beyond that, the vast majority of the place looks like a combination of Panera bread and Starbucks. I sat in that area. It isn't private. It isn't fun. I sat there and watched several couples come in and ask to be reseated to somewhere more private and cozy, which at that point was in a corner. The middle of the restaurant where the open ceiling is is aesthetically pleasing, except for the fact that they make the sushi right there and ALL the waiters hang out in that one area. It makes the place look disorganized and goes against the high class theme of the restaurant. The decor inside the bathroom is aesthetically pleasing. Thank goodness for the handicapped sign that's one bathroom door because if it weren't for that we wouldn't know where the door handle was. Two ladies came in and I showed them where the handle was, while I waited on someone in my party to finish. The DJ played ok music.. house music when I was there. You can't go wrong with that. The salmon in the sushi melts in your mouth. Aside from Makoto, this was the freshest sushi I've had. Very nice salmon. The portion size of the sushi is half the size of a normal roll. Literally. We ordered two rolls each, lamb, salad, miso cod (which they didn't soak because the inside was flavorless), and STILL had to order a pizza when we went home. The portion sizes were underwhelming to say the least. The bill for two persons came up to $287, and when we left we were still hungry. They serve the lamb one single lamb chop for around $34. It has a unique taste, I wouldn't go crazy for it. The staff were all nice, and the manager walks around and makes eye contact while smiling. The theme is too confusing. It is obvious they were trying to cater to a young, college kid crowd, but the average college kid can't and won't want to frequent here unless they're with someone on a date or something. The portion size was far too small...

Chotto Matte delivers an unparalleled dining experience that seamlessly blends exquisite cuisine, exceptional service, and an electrifying atmosphere. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was evident that this establishment is a cut above the rest.

The culinary journey began with a menu that showcases a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavors, and every dish was a masterpiece. The creativity in the presentation and the precision in the execution of each dish left our taste buds dancing with delight. The chefs at Chotto Matte have truly mastered the art of marrying diverse culinary traditions to create something extraordinary.

The service at Chotto Matte is nothing short of extraordinary. The staff was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also attentive and genuinely passionate about ensuring a memorable dining experience. Every detail, from the timing of the courses to the recommendations, was executed with precision. The seamless coordination among the staff elevated the overall dining experience, making us feel like valued guests.

The atmosphere at Chotto Matte is a perfect blend of chic sophistication and vibrant energy. The sleek and modern interior design sets the stage for an unforgettable evening. The ambient lighting creates an intimate yet lively atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a lively celebration. The addition of DJ Patrick M's music elevated the vibe to another level. His curated playlist was the perfect backdrop, enhancing the overall ambiance without overpowering conversation.

DJ Patrick M's music selection was truly a highlight of the evening. His ability to read the room and curate a playlist that complemented the energy of the restaurant was exceptional. The beats were infectious, and it added an extra layer of excitement to an already fantastic dining experience.

In conclusion, Chotto Matte is a culinary gem that exceeds expectations on every front. The food is a celebration of flavors, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is a perfect blend of sophistication and energy. With the added touch of DJ Patrick M's music, Chotto Matte creates an immersive dining experience that lingers in the memory long after the last bite. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a culinary adventure with a side of...

This review is long overdue but oh my gosh.. Chotto Matte has blown my expectations through the roof! 1000000/10!

I made a reservation about a week before I headed to Miami and called the restaurant the day of to inquire about their dress code. I should’ve asked for her name but the madam who answered the phone was super bubbly, giggly and said to “come as you are”. Upon arrival, we were greeted (by said madam) and they acknowledged we were celebrating a graduation that afternoon. The restaurant was beautiful, and though it seemed like we were the only two dining in the restaurant, I personally took it as a positive. No long wait times and quick service.

We ordered the nikkei menu deluxe and then also some other dishes like the spicy tuna crispy rice, amazonian bbq salmon & asado de tira. One after another, when we finished one dish, we’ll receive another. Everything came to the table quick and hot. We didn’t feel we were being rushed at all. My favorite dishes of the night had to be the amazonian bbq salmon [tender, not dry at all, amazing curry sauce], asado de tira [purple potato purée complimented the short rib, melts in your mouth!], tentáculos de pulpo [not chewy nor tough, plating was beautiful], and the wagyu sirloin! The deluxe menu was great for us to try a variety of items.

Our server John was phenomenal! He was very courteous and I appreciated his excellent timing during our meal. I informed him that I preferred sweeter cocktails and he recommended the flor de manzana. Of course, it was great. His second recommendation was the peach pisco and I was a bit worried about the egg whites as an ingredient, but I enjoyed it regardless. Drinks were complementary to the meal. The server asistant (i’m assuming—wish I gotten her name too 😭) was also very kind and she explained every dish thoroughly. I never lifted a finger to do anything. She constantly switched my plates out and made sure I had a clean surface before the next course.

The bill came out to be $400 for 2. Some may find it steep, but you’re paying for the excellent service and environment as well. I, myself am a server in Atlanta and the Chotto Matte staff executed the steps of service perfectly to the t. Each and every interaction in the restaurant made me feel welcomed and so pleasant to be there. See...

Could not recommend Chotto Matte more. We came in on a Saturday night around 8:30pm for my boyfriend's birthday. When I made the reservation I noted it was his birthday, so not sure how much of a role that played, but our service from the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out was exceptional. The hostess were so friendly, we had multiple servers as well as the manager come by and ask how we were doing. The manager even gave us a small comped dish to try after chatting for a little while. There was a DJ and the music was great, overall perfect celebration vibes. I had two personal hiccups during our dinner, both of which were definitely just the particular server we had: 1. l asked for a drink recommendation, something not sweet. I was recommended the Chicha Sagrada (not pictured) it was a great drink, but definitely had to have been THE sweetest drink on the menu which isn't really my cup of tea 2. I discreetly went up to our server mid dinner and told her I wanted to order a birthday dessert for my boyfriend as a surprise. Before the dessert came out while we were still waiting for our last plate, our server brought us dessert spoons, plates, and new napkins. And although great that she brought us the stuff, it was WAY too early and completely ruined the element of surprise! I would've preferred to have to ask for spoons after the fact lol Spicy Tuna Crispy Sushi: came with 5 decently sized pieces, it was very good but definitely too much for just the two of us Sato Maki: It doesn't say on the menu, but they touch this roll table side. It was fantastic Yellowtail: so many fantastic flavors and the texture from the chips on top Tuna Tataki: one of my favorites from the night. The herb salsa on top was fantastic BBQ Baby Back Ribs: we never would have ordered this is the manager didn't have us try it. They were so flavorful and so tender they fell off the bone. I'm not a big rib fan, but these were pretty great Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée: Fantastic flavor, the consistency of the crème was too gooey like it wasn't set properly or overheated when they melted the sugar.

On my visit to South Beach I was sure to include dinner at Chotto Matte for dinner. The tables are far apart and the restaurant limited capacity (compliant with Covid-19 regulations). We ended up trying the Nikkei Sharing Menu Deluxe (11 course meal, $120 per person). I must say the food was spectacular. The Shishito peppers were the best I’ve ever had. Yellowtail “nikkei sashimi” was excellent, fresh with amazing truffle ponzu sauce. Tuna tataki was a bit underwhelming, not enough flavor profile in the sauce. Chuleta de Cordero Ahumada was the lamb chop, made tender to an absolute perfection with an excellent marinade and spice profile. I can confidently say this was the best lamb chop I ate in my life and many would agree with me. Top notch👌. The black cod yazu-miso was also the best I’ve had in my life! There is a theme to the elevated food quality and menu selection here! We sat at the high top table by the bar and the bartender was our server as well, they have an excellent cocktails selection but I asked the bartender (Jorge) to give me his favorite gin based cocktail and HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! He was very friendly and attentive all night. My ONLY CONCERN here and this is honestly a big one, is the time limit and how long we can sit at the table. 1.5 hour experience may be enough for a basic dinner but not for an 11 course meal. I felt the food came out rushed and was not presented appropriately. I was rushed eating my food the whole dinner and the manager made sure to let Jorge know that they needed the table by a certain time. Our time at the table was extended by 30 mins (because literally not all of our food was out yet) but over all I felt rushed, we spent close to $400 for a dinner for two with everything included, so I did not appreciate being rushed and was not able to have a proper experience. Very disappointed, seems the management does not value a customer experience.
