I found this hotel thru Expedia and the booking and check in process were both easy. The instructions and details are transparent and accurate, though the photos must have been professionally taken and edited because they look a lot more high scale than they are and hide much of the imperfections very well. The hotel gives an international dormitory vibe and reeks of harsh cleaning products and tobacco. The first night I stayed there was a large gathering of older men in the patio area smoking through multiple packs of cigarettes for hours (there when I left for dinner and still there when I returned). I'm assuming the rooms accommodated both smoking and smokers because the smell seeped into every wall. I blasted the a/c as high as I could tolerate to mask the scent but I cannot recommend this place if you're as sensitive to tobacco as I am. The toilet, shower, and sink are also pretty tight and the restroom cannot accommodate more than 1 person at a time. I didn't' utilize the kitchenette but it was nice to have utensils to eat my leftovers I stored in the fridge and warmed up in the microwave. Lastly, the spring bed was noisy and the walls were "very* thin so I could hear everything from a cough to the heavy doors that slammed easily and often. I do wish this hotel success and think they have a strong international customer base, but as a frequent traveler, this wasn't much of an upgrade from a motel stay.
I will say the service was helpful as I requested to change rooms so I wasn't next to the noisy patio and stairway and they quickly rearranged my reservation. The hotel was also in a great location, both safe, and close to the Lincoln shopping center, the cutest French bakery, & a phenomenal...
Read moreRead moreLocation of this place was really great: close to the see promenade to view sunsets over Miami, close to the Art Deco district of Miamimi Beach, close to free trolleys and city buses, 15min walk to a supermarket, close to the pedestrian zone at Lincoln Road. We also used the nearby coin laundry (5mins walk) and outdoor gym at Flamingo Park (10mins walk). The parking spot is located nearby in a very modern building listed on multiple websites about modern architechture of the area. The distadvantage about the parking is that one needs to pick up the card during the reception hours (until 6PM on the day of the arrival) which we almost missed (5:55PM) due to heavy traffic in Miami. Our room was located on the ground floor, view on another building 2m away, so we kept our curtains closed most of the time. Kitchenware was very minimalistic (among others only 2 tiny cups for tea/coffee) and some basics (for my taste) were missing like the electric water kettle - so it would be a nice addition (we boiled water in the microwave). One other thing that could be added (perhaps requested from the reception) is a hairdryer. On the plus side there were plenty of towels including beach towels. The biggest issue was humidity in the room that did not go away with the "drying mode" of the AC, but there was no mold like others indicated in their reviews. Overall we rate our experience as very good, but there is still room for improvement. We'll definitely consider this location if we come to Miami...
This place is horrible - don't book here. My first day, I came to the hotel, and there was no body there to allow me to check in. There was no e-mail or text from the owner giving me instructions, and the number that they had on the front table wasn't reachable initially. AfterI got a hold of the manager, and checked in, the room I was in, was dirty, doors don't close properly, and the room smelled like mildew and an abundance of air fresheners. The second day, I was woken up by the maintenance man at 7am, asking to check the air conditioner, and came back while I was in the shower, and proceeded to open the door. Then, after his "maintenance" the air conditioner started leaking and proceeded to leak all over the floor. The maintenance man came back, and tried to "fix" the issue, but left all of his tools in my room for a good bit of the day, and leaving a mess. When speaking to the manager, she didn't want to acknowledge that this is unacceptable, and was rude when addressing the issue. Refused to compensate me for the trouble of not being to access my room for a good part of the day. The next day, people kept knocking at the door, and opening the door for no reason, further invading my property. I will never stay in this place ever again, and urge you to reconsider if you booked this place, even for a short term stay. Although the location is decent, there are better places near by that would be more...
