Read moreI’ve been supporting this business for almost 2 years, but I was very displeased with my most recent visit on Saturday 09/27/2025 between 1PM and 2PM. I ordered a regular build-your-own (acai/coconut). Aside from the 6 toppings, I always get coconut oil. Sometimes they charge me, sometimes they don’t, and I don’t mind paying the extra fee when they do. This time I paid for it. I like my coconut oil put on top of the base before the second serving of granola, and then again on top after the toppings. When my bowl was almost done, I asked for a little more hemp seeds and for coconut oil on top, just like I always do. The young lady (white female, black and blonde curly hair, glasses) told me I would have to pay another $1 for more coconut oil. I had already paid extra, so I thought it was ridiculous for her to ask for more money just for another squirt. She said, “we have to pay for the oil,” and I cut her off, telling her she’s not the owner, just an employee. She then asked why I was yelling at her. I wasn’t yelling. My voice was a little louder than before, but I wasn’t disrespectful. I told her if she didn’t like my tone, she could just say that. She then told me, “this is embarrassing.” I asked her what’s embarrassing, and she said, “I’m embarrassed for YOU.” I told her there’s nothing to be embarrassed about because I didn’t curse at her or say anything out of line. She then said, “you’re doing all this for coconut oil.” I told her yes, I am. I paid for it, and I expect to receive what I paid for. She still insisted I pay extra for another serving. I told her just give me my bowl so I can go. She stood there staring at me like she didn’t want to hand it over. A young man had to step in and give me my bowl and a bag. They usually don’t measure coconut oil so strictly, and if they did, I would’ve just asked her to split the serving from the start so I could have some on the base and some on top. This whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. This isn’t the first time I’ve had an issue with one of the female employees. Honestly, I’m starting to feel like some of them have a problem with Black customers. Their customer service sucks, and after this, I told myself I won’t be...
Read moreWhen Acai Express first opened, it was fresh and new to Miami Lakes. It was alright the first few time and had potential. But a quick turn came. It all started when they ran out of out regular granola, and they couldn't keep up with their vendors to meet supply for their customers. Instead the only option was this poor quality "blueberry" artificially flavored granola that just isn't it. Honestly, I had high hopes for this place, but just recently I went to purchase a bowl and they told me I couldn't change a topping for another topping without adding $1 for each topping. This is absolutely ridiculous. They have the customize bowl option, but I don't even see how that works with this ridiculous rule of charging $1 per topping. The owner was very nice in the beginning but if she wants to keep her Miami Lakes customers happy she better rethink her marketing and pricing strategies. Also, the employees add way too much coconut oil to the granola and it sticks together in clumps. It's gross. Goodluck.
P.S. to the owner, I could not reply to your response on Google so here it is as an edit. Your staff was not offering any solutions instead they just told me I couldn't change any toppings. They didn't even suggest the customize bowl even though I knew it was an option. I wasn't adding an ingredient, I was replacing. The bowl still would've been under 6 toppings. Didn't make any sense. Essentially I was customizing a bowl, but they didn't understand or offer to just charge me a custom bowl price. Please train your staff to be aware of the menu options to provide to...
