To start, I have served in the service industry and served in multiple restaurants for over 15 years and I will say that I am absolutely an advocate for an automatic gratuity being added to checks because of different guests ignorance when it comes to tipping. HOWEVER, after the worst service I have received in my entire life by our server Raisa, I understand why people are so often upset by the automatic gratuity. I understand I may not get the best service when it's a Chili's in an airport, especially when it can be very busy at times as well. BUT, when our server came by our table 3 to 4 times, especially when it was not busy, it was definitely disappointing. The first time she came by, it took almost 10 minutes for her to come out and we were greeted with a less than enthusiastic, "You ready to order?" The second time she came by, she brought us our sodas. The third time was to take our plates and silverware that we had stacked in one neat pile so it would be easier for her to take them back to the dishwasher. The final time she came by was to drop off the check, to which then I look down and see an automatic 18% gratuity added. It was all so clear at that point why Raisa was ignoring us. It didn't matter what the service was at that point, she was still getting paid no matter what. Raisa never once refilled our drinks, she didn't drop off our food, she didn't check if the food came out alright or if we were ok or enjoying it at all, and then on top of all of that, as she ignored us through the entire meal, she also either knowingly or unknowingly ignored us for 15 minutes after we were done and waiting for the check. As my girlfriend and I are both servers and we understand when everybody has a bad day every once in a while, we still felt as if Raisa was purposely avoiding our table. My girlfriend had to stop Raisa to ask for mayo because she wouldn't even look at us the 5+ times she walked by us after we got our food. By the end of the meal, we both realized that we had just experienced the worst service that we have ever received. It's extremely unfortunate because it's servers like Raisa that gives the automatic gratuity such a stigma. It's servers like Raisa that gives all other servers such a bad rap as well. Raisa is an overpaid glorified busser at this point that the Miami Airport Chili's Too management has appointed to actually serve tables face to face. They may want to rethink having Raisa as one of their servers but I do not blame them for this awful experience. I do blame Raisa because she is an embarrassment to anyone who works in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalked in and got seated immediately, then greeted by our server immediately. He took our order and the food came out in like 8 or 9 minutes. So far, outstanding! My beef is with...the beef. The hamburger they gave me is tiny. It wasn't cooked medium like I ordered either, it was definitely well done, and because of that, I couldn't discern whether it was restaurant-quality beef, or Walmart-grade ground chuck. I highly doubt that the weight of this burger is approved by corporate; it was smaller in diameter than a Steak n Shake burger (so tiny), and not much thicker, so I'm thinking the local operation skimps on the beef to save money and help pay their rent. No one cares if the burger costs $12, or $13, or $14, but regardless, it shouldn't leave someone feeling like barely ate anything. Ok, so why the 2 stars? Well.. out of nowhere, 5 or 6 staff members come out of the kitchen, banging loudly on pots and pans, as if they're about to stage a street protest or something.... but no, they're just wishing someone a happy birthday! Ok, no worries, but the pots and pans are NOT necessary. They can wish someone a happy bday without all the f'in noise. Travelers are weary, they're anxious and depressed and many other things, some of them are on their way to funerals; showing a modicum of respect to the people who pay your salary, is not an unreasonable request. After that, as they're on their way back into the kitchen, someone drops one of the aforementioned pots on the floor about 5 feet from my table, and it was LOUD. Completely unnecessary, which is precisely the word I blurted out. I've gotta know, are the pots and pans approved by corporate? Maybe I should write...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible customer service and doesnāt not meet general cleanliness standards. I asked for a glass of water. When the bartender, Mayrelis, brought the water the cup was dirty on the inside. Dirty as to where I could scrape off the dirty with my nail. When I asked for a new cup she said āAll the cups are like thatā. I was able to get a disposable cup. Initially I tried to order the triple dipper sampler. They did not have any southwestern eggrolls so I was not able to order it. I was okay with this because she told me when I attempted to place the order. I then ordered the chicken fingers which comes with fries and mac & cheese. I noticed my order was taking a quite a bit of time. The couple next to me ordered at the same time. They received theirs and ate it before my food came out. This may have been because of race. Another Black woman at the bar complained that she sat down before a white customer but was served after him. It was a valid complaint as I witnessed the interaction. Another patron at the bar asked a staff member if there was anyone working at the bar at all. He responded that she was on break. She had forgot to give my order before she went on break. Instead of remaking the order she asked for it to be microwaved which made the food very dry. When it finally came out there was no mac & cheese. She refused adjust the build or provide another side. She even tried to grab the plate without my permission stating āso you donāt want itā. When I asked for her name she said āIām not giving you anything. I donāt have toā. The manager Eric was also rude and refused to give me information to file a...
