This was first for me! My wife and I with 4 kids (including a 9month baby) showed up at 3:30 on a Saturday with restaurant less than half full and plenty of open booths visible, like a dozen of them and was told they did not have room at this time to seat us and it could be until 4:30. I was a bit shocked that we would just be turned away with so many open spots. There was absolutely no one waiting for a seat in the lobby and it was not like there was a dinner crowd to where you might need reservations to be seated. I was appalled and really felt like they just did not want our business. I told them this is a good way to loose business and grabbed a business card went outside and called in to speak to a manager. Waited on hold for 20 minutes and saw a large group of 10 come out the front door. I asked them did you guys have reservations and they said NO, told them my family of 6 was just denied a seat with plenty of seats open and they agreed it was ridiculous. Still waiting on hold I went in pretty furious and as I was voicing my complaint a manager walked over to see what the problem was and instead of trying to right a wrong he escalated they situation, did not apologize for the lack of customer service my family was treated, did not attempt to find an easy solution that was right in front of him, instead just tried to justify why my wife and kids could not be seated, he did not say there was not enough staffing because there were plenty of people standing around and again plenty of open tables to fit my family clearly visible. The same size tables my family eats at in every restaurant. I left just telling him how horrible this service was and he just lost a good chunk of business as we found another place nearby and spent my $125 somewhere else. Its not easy to get a baby and a toddler out of car seats with an 8 year old and a 10 year old out of the car walk across the parking lot hungry and ready to take a load off and relax ready to eat as we were all hungry just to given NO effort at all to be taken care off. Will never even consider giving this place a second chance as we surely did not feel welcomed! Just horrible service in...
Read moreI'll start with that I worked in the food industry from chain restaurants to a small, from scratch kitchen and I've done many things at home. Even if I'm not the best I know how things are and should be prepared. I've ate at BJ's twice and when I go out I pick apart every aspect of the restaurant. Yeah, I'm that guy. First off the hostess didn't seem to want to be there, I don't blame her but thats not how you work that position. Also there was a gloomy other employee sitting by her, not a hostess. The service was okay. I like time to look without being bugged a lot so as long as you seem appropriate and just get what I need and check up occasionally I'm happy. The menu seems big but really some some of it is posted twice so its not that bad. The first time I got a quinoa dish and though I've ate it for years I've yet to be excited by quinoa. The dish was okay and just seemed like something I would make at home. It was nothing special but nice to have that lighter option without wheat and dairy. Most of the menu looks pretty boring or typical to me honestly. This last time I got an app of fried calamari and some chicken pita "tacos" which were much like gyros. The calamari was about half battered round rings and half tentacles. The problem with seafood especially calamari is that it overcooks real easy and the rings were decent but the tentacles were even tough to pull apart. They were partially blackened in the friar and after chewing threw 2 or 3 sections I just sat them all aside. The pita tacos were good, if you like gyros you should like these. Also I added on a side of asparagus which was really good but 3 dollars for 5 medium sized spears seemed like a lot of asparagus. The calamari was taken off the check which is typical of any chain restaurant. If you are a foodie, know your way around a kitchen, and know how food is and should be prepared then this place isn't going to be a gem.
Summary, service was par with other chain restaurants, menu seems bland, and the cooks arn't very amazing. I don't usually drink and I didn't go for the pizza so I can't...
Read moreFirst time eating here and always drove by wondering about the place so we gave it a try.
Pretty cool building inside that gives you the old Chicago vibes from back in the day. Service was pretty good, possibly a little overwhelmed because there was a time we could have used our server but he wasn't readily available. (Great server when he did stop by though)
The food part: We ordered Soup, Wings and a Burger. First came the Cheddar Broccoli Soup in a Sourdough Bread bowl. It was absolutely delicious and looked just as amazing. Few minutes later the wings arrived and they were just as delicious. Definitely recommend both.
About 10 minutes later we were still waiting in the burger, table next to us was looking for the server, we were doing the same and also discussing why the food doesn't come out at the same time. Server stopped by and said the burger was on the way which arrive about another 5 minutes after that. Long enough that the Soup was pretty much done and Wings were 3/4 finished. The burger was the top 3 worst I've eaten but I was starving so I ate it anyway. Top bun was delicious, bottom bun was cold, little to no sauce, burger was as well done as a charcoal briquette and it had a cold slice of cheese that I would think should have been melted. Either way I ate it, seen the server again when asked about desert and gave us the bill. I think the server was overwhelmed and the kitchen dropped the ball something horrible with a 20 minute overdone burger (give or take on the time)
If I went back it wouldn't be for a burger and it would have to be during a less busy time. Walking out one person said have a good day while the other just had her head down on the table like life was going to end. Kudos on the...
