EDIT: Well - cloud nine didnât last too long. What good is a good first experience to sell a client on the salon if you canât retain your clients. I was really happy here initially but unfortunately it appears this salon is about sales and money more than anything else. In 3 appointments, I spent close to $400. I tipped my stylist $30 my first appointment and $20 for the two following and was happy to do so. I took care of her well. During my last appointment, I came in to cover a 1 inch in width x 4 inch length section of bang that ended up brighter than the rest of my hair... they charged me $97 for that tiny piece and to blow dry my hair. They initially tried to charge more than that but I caught it at checkout that the sheet was wrong. While itâs annoying that theyâd charge that much for so little, additionally, I had an identical appointment where she actually did less about a month prior that was $30 less than this appointment without reason. Obviously, this was cause for concern so I asked to speak to management about why identical appointments would cost $30 different. I understand thereâs different managers but the manager I spoke to didnât care to hear a thing I was concerned about.
TIPS: itâs about $30 just to have them dry your hair and another $11 for them to use a hot tool like curling iron or straightener (which is Im sure why they ask if you want it - not because itâll look good) so $41 to have them dry your hair. Ask to skip one or both of not necessary. Product sales are a pocket booster for them too. Careful when they try to sell those to you.
Make sure your stylists talks to you about pricing before EACH appointment. If I had known she would charge $100 to cover essentially 4 square inches of hair and blow dry it. I wouldâve absolutely skipped or changed course. I had a basically identical appointment for $30+ less a month before hand. There should have been a conversation about that before the appointment.
If you have a concern, try the owner. The manager I talked to today did not care to listen to what I had to say at all. It was clear from the beginning of the call that she was listening to refute, not trying to understand what I was saying. She was defensive and giving reasons why she wouldnât budge based on what was written in the system before she would even hear how my appointments went or what I had done. Clearly the notes in the system werenât thorough because when I got her to finally listen to what I was trying to say (I had to ask her to listen to me about my appointments about 3 times before sheâd slow down and listen my concern but it was clear she didnât care, she just wanted to find more ways to defend.) she was surprised to hear about how my appointments went. I feel if she had listen or cared from the beginning this wouldâve gone much differently and she wouldâve understood what I was calling about. My hope would be that maybe the owner would at least care about client experience and where the root of the issue or cause for concern and confusion was here rather than blaming clients and bearing down on a decision without listening. If not, then the salon doesnât deserve your business. I will be switching to a better salon. The manager was clear thatâs what she thought was the best solution.
Last night was my first time going to Jungle Red and I could not have had a better experience!!! My stylist was Kenzi. She was fantastic! She listened to me, she asked questions to make sure we were on track with what we wanted, she gave pointers, suggestions and was super friendly. She was incredibly knowledgeable and great at her craft, I felt very confident with her working on my hair even though we had just met. Additionally, the ladies up front were very friendly and the salon itself did a great job keeping everybody safe with covid precautions. Iâm very happy with this result and plan to make this my home hair studio....
Read moreI started seeing Morgan at Jungle Red Salon back in November with realistic expectations â I knew going in that transitioning from bright red hair to icy blonde would take multiple sessions. But what I didnât expect was to be treated poorly, met with an incredibly rude and entitled attitude, or to be left with my hair in such awful condition.
It felt like she was intentionally using more bleach and product than necessary just to charge me more, since they charge based on how much product is used, not just the service itself.
By my third appointment in April, my hair came out patchy, with mismatched shades that looked nothing like what I asked for. When I went back for a âfixâ â a Malibu treatment, as she called it â I couldnât believe she let me walk out of the salon looking like that. My hair was multiple uneven tones. She blamed me for needing to redo the toner because I had âwaited so long to come back,â even though she was the one who rescheduled me. She gave me attitude and even said she was âdoing me a favorâ by blow drying my hair because I would ânormally have to pay for it.â I have never been charged to have my hair blow dried after paying for a color service â and I wouldnât have been in that chair a second time if she had done it right the first time.
She said Iâd be out by 2:00 because I had to go to work, but at 2:15 she was still blow drying my hair â and instead of finishing up, she took time to snap a picture for her portfolio. Honestly, I wouldnât want this result as a âsee what I can doâ picture. Her poor time management and lack of care made me late for work.
I spoke with a manager who did seem to care, and I was sent to Jenny. Jenny came in an hour early to make sure I wouldnât be late for work, and she genuinely improved my hair. Unfortunately, she wonât respond to messages, so I couldnât continue with her either.
All of this happened within 3 weeks â 3 treatments. I havenât had anything done to my hair in 2 months because Iâve been conditioning it 3â4 times a week just trying to recover. My hair is breaking badly. I already have naturally thin hair, and whatever they did has left me with severe damage and a ton of anxiety about my hair.
Iâll be posting pictures so people can see what I originally asked for and what I walked out with. I would not recommend Jungle Red Salon â not if you value the health of your hair or your sanity.
The first photo is what I wanted my hair to look like, 2-4 is what I left with after the 1st of these 3 treatments. 5 is after her âfixâ and 6 is...
Read moreAfter some changes in our family schedule I realized that I needed a very time-flexible salon and checked into Jungle Red Salon. I loved the fact that I was able to book my appointment online and see everyone who was available, such an easy way to schedule! From the moment I walked in I was struck by how calming the salon was. I was promptly greeted, my stylist was alerted and I waited in the lobby which smelled wonderful and was so welcoming. In just a few short moments I met Sarah and was taken to her station. She went over in great detail what I wanted to do with my cut and color, neither of which had been touched in 5 months. We discussed my hair care routine, what I wanted and what I didn't like about my hair. She went over everything that it would take to achieve the results I would want and the cost associated with each step. She took her time, was easy to talk to and was very focused on her task. The shampoo area was very nice and even had a pillow in the sink to support the head (with neck issues shampoo bowls often cause me great discomfort). She explained each step and while washing out my color started going over the details of the cut again. We pretty much did a second cut consultation since the first one had been an hour before and clarified some points and she got to work. The results were amazing. The color was better than I had even hoped for and the cut is impeccable. I have to admit, I had tears of joy welling up in my eyes. It has been so long since I looked in the mirror and liked what I saw, but when I looked at the finished result I thought "gasp" I looked pretty! Sarah took me from a drab mom who gives everything she has to her family with nothing left over, to a mom who knows investing in herself is worth it. My daughter can't stop touching my hair and I am simply obsessed with the color. I was highly impressed with the professionalism of the entire salon staff, and the detail that Sarah went into to ensure I received exactly what I was hoping for. I will return without a doubt and look forward to having Sarah keep up...
