Calle Ocho is such an awesome street with so much personality. We live blocks and it's one of the main reasons we haven't moved yet too. One day, the nightclub El Santo was recommended by a promoter friend and we saw there was also an El Santo estaurant next door open late. It's perfect for a late night snack if you hungry or need to soak up some of that liquor before going home😜. It's a cute, smaller restaurant that has super yummy food. The drinks are good too, but we mainly go there for the good. They also have a really good Veggie mushroom taco, tasty nachos, queso, and more. They also have a hot sauce wall with over a dozen options to top your food with too! This last time, we got (3) fish, (2) shrimp, and (1) Carne tacos with (2) casamigos spicy margaritas for around $95. The ambiance is fun with a lot of bright colors, funny sayings, authentic art, and great club music they piped into the restaurant you can't help but want to dance to. I love it here and will continue to support!

I haven’t been to eight street in years. Has definitely become more of a tourist area and the foot traffic is not what I expected. For a Saturday midday, parking was a little challenging and if you don’t mind walking a little then it’s no big deal. Came in for lunch and was empty upon arrival about 1pm. Ordering process typical walk up counter. Food brought to the table. I got the Chichen tacos and my friend got the quesadilla. The tacos are soft, only option. No hard shell. Tasty but may not be filling for those who are big eaters. A little on the small side for the price. No chips included, must be ordered separately if you want. The place appeared clean and visually appealing. Open air inside, was cool and comfortable.

At first glance the decor in this place is interesting, with all this neon paint and statues of saints and madonnas. But don’t let that distract you from the mediocre device and food that is average. I’ll strolled in for a lunch and asked about the vegan options they offer which I was directed to sweet potato tacos, but I wanted to so the bowl instead . The young lady at the counter only speaks broken English. I spoke to her in Spanish which was fine. Then in signing receipt I failed to be given a receipt that stated they had already tacked on a 15% service charge and I had added an extra tip. 15 minutes later I still hadn’t received my meal. I asked the woman why is it taking so long?. She went to the kitchen and realize that the order never went through to the back. I graciously told her that I would like to take back the extra tip I gave her because 1. I was not notified that there was a 15% service gratuity already added and I was the only customer in the restaurant where she never bothered to attend to my meal. They returned the extra tip and the bowl I ordered came out to me 5 min later (a total of 20 min wait) but it was cold. The the beans were canned and the yellow rice was pre-made $2 for two tablespoons of chicken (which was the only warm thing in the dish. $11 +15% service charge plus tax equals $13.55 which is too much for a cold bowl that I could’ve open up cans of rice and beans at home and eaten the same for only $3. I would hope that the food is hot if you order tacos 🌮 so it was a fail. I would like to try the bar when it’s open in the evening it’s next-door it looks like it’s more fun and you can’t go wrong with alcohol in this town. Well best of luck to them they need to be more mindful of their customers. Someone that seem like a manager came out to see what’s wrong with the cash register but he never bothered to come over and apologize or even speak to me or make eye contact. very poor customer service indeed which is what my reports...

SCAM ARTIST AT ITS BEST!!! Last Saturday may 14th took some family members down to this place. They have a “night club” attached to the taqueria with the same name “EL SANTO”. The guy at the door told us it was going to be $200.00 cover for the 4 of us but we can use that money at the bar; we also gave them $100.00 cash and I gave them my credit card for the rest of the cover to get in. After 4 drinks and 4 beers we asked for the bill at the end of the night and the bartender told us it was $319.00. We tried to explain that we have a credit and we wanted to use it, he kept avoiding us and telling us if we pay the bill we still have a $80.00 credit. I never understood where these $80.00 came from… At that point I was getting irritated by the whole scenario. The bartender never came back and we wanted to leave at that moment. He kept avoiding us.The whole night, from the moment we got there it seemed so sketchy… this is the reason I will give them one star to this place and I will continue to report this incident to the Chamber of commerce of Miami-Dade county, better business bureau, city council, liquor license because I feel like bartenders like these and places like these should be held accountable for...

My spouse and I just returned home from having a mid-afternoon lunch at El Cuban Diner. Is basically a fast food place faking it as a nostalgic Cuban restaurant of long ago. Neither the decor, service or the food is worth the trip. Except for one other table taken up by 3 tourists, we were the only ones in the restaurant. After taking a look at vintage 1950's Coca-Cola posters on the walls with models that have 3 and 4 fingers, we decided to order. We opted for a "frita", a Cuban hamberger, French fries, a prosciutto sandwich and as an appetizer "papa rellena". The appetizer was brought to the table after we had taken several bites of the frita and sandwich. The French fries were delivered later. We asked they be taken back to the kitchen. The waitress said they were on the house and indicated we could take them home and there was no charge. We brought 3 small meatball size papa rellena home. Hoping our kids will eat them. The frita? was ok, there's another frita joint within walking distance on 17th st were fritas are delicious and is not fake. The prosciutto sandwich was pretty good. All in all, we will not...
