SERVICE 4/5 UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS ONLY 1 SERVER AND IT WAS BUSY, SO SERVICE WAS POOR. WE ASKED FOR A DRINK REFILL TWICE NEVER GOT IT, BUT SHE WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND APOLOGETIC. ATMOSPHERE 4/5 FROM THE OUTSIDE IT DIDNT EVEN LOOK LIKE THE PLACE WAS I BUSINESS..DARK, NO LIGHTS, NO OPEN SIGN, BLINDS CLOSED...BUT INSIDE ITS VERY CLEAN & SPACIOUS. FOOD OVERALL 3/5 PRICE WAS QUITE STEEP FOR THE PORTION. SHIO RAMEN & TANTAN RAMEN BOTH 3/5 SHIO BROTH WAS V.LIGHT. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. PORK BELLY CUTS WERE SO THIN..SHOULD'VE ADDED MORE. THE TANTAN BROTH WAS NOT AS THICK AND CREAMY AS THE TRADITIONAL TANTANS ARE BUT IT WAS MORE SPICY, WHICH GAVE IT A NICE KICK. ALSO, BOTH RAMENS THEY ONLY GIVE YOU HALF AN EGG. ITS FULL HARD BOILED, NOT SOFT BOILED W.A JELLY YOLK. FOR THE PRICE ($20USD/BOWL) I EXPECTED MORE. THE RAMEN NOODLES ITSELF ARE ON THE THICKER SIDE, WAVY AND CHEWY. SASHIMI & ROLL BENTO 4/5 WISH THE PORTION WAS MORE. IT WAS ALMOST KID SIZED. SASHIMI WAS OK, NOTHING STOOD OUT. GYOZA & SASHIMI BENTO 3/5 ONLY 2 PCS OF GYOZAS, OVER COOKED & HARD, FILLING WAS V.DRY. THE PURPLE CABBAGE SLAW WAS ACTUALLY REALLY NICE. YOU CAN TASTE THE SESAME OIL (WHICH I DO LOVE).

I've been on a quest for best Miami Ramen for a while and though I do have a favorite place, I believe I haven't found it yet. Came here looking for that Ramen and this was actually the worst Ramen l've ever tried in my life. I guess since they're a sushi place, their specialty is sushi or else but why have this iter in your menu and not make it at least decent. First of all, the broth had no depth or even that much flavor, kinda bland. I can say the same thing about the three small pieces of pork belly that had no flavor at all and for $18, one would expect a little more than a mediocre "soup" if that. I ate this because I was really hungry and it was in front of me so what choice did I have. The service was actually really good and waiter was friendly and attentive. I can only rate them for the Ramen, maybe their sushi is good and that's why they have a 4 star rating on Yelp but who knows, the place only had one customer on the countertop and two tables occupied and I was one of them. Anyway, after this I realize that my quest for that Ramen continues for indefinite time, until then, don't bother ordering their Ramen.

This is my go to places if I want really good Asian sorbet dessert. I came here initially intend to try the ramen noodle, as I still struggle to find decent ramen in Miami and saw this place on Yelp. I ordered spicy tuna tartar on crispy rice as recommended by our waiter, and of course signature ramen. I did not like the former, as tuna tartar plus crispy rice formed an interesting texture combination that doesn't really work together. The ramen is above average , I really like the simmered eggs and the pork, but the broth is a bit oily. The appetizer and ramen is pushing me towards a 3.5 until I tried the dessert, which I could give about 3500 stars. The taro based sorbet is perfect sized to share, and has different goodies that the waiter will mixed them with taro paste, taro ice cream and shaved ice. It is hard to describe but show them the picture I uploaded, it will BLOW YOUR MIND.

I had a reservation for 7:30 pm. When we arrived, the establishment was fairly empty. Our server took our drink orders, came back five minutes later, took our appetizer order, and never came back. After receiving out appetizers, we ate them, waited about 15 minutes, then tried to see if our waiter would come over. He was busy tending to other tables that just arrived, which is reasonable as it had gotten busy, but he seemed to have forgotten about us. I am very understanding as my partner is in the industry, and it was Valentines Day so it was expected to have to wait at some point. However, after about 30 minutes of waiting, I decided to try to get the waiter’s attention. After a few minutes of waiting, I was finally able to get his attention, and he said he would be right with me after dropping off drinks. He proceeded to drop off drinks and then walked right past me. I then waited another 10-15 minutes for him to finally come to our table, in which at this point I was over it and wanted to go somewhere else to eat to actually eat dinner. He had the audacity to ask if we wanted dessert, when we didn’t even get a chance to order entrees. We tipped the standard 20% but had it been a regular day, he would’ve received little to nothing because the service just wasn’t it. The little of appetizers we got to try were delicious though, I am just sad I did not get to try an entree because of the situation. And don’t get me wrong, I completely understand it was a “holiday” that tends to be busy, but this restaurant is usually closed on Tuesdays, meaning they decided to open JUST for Valentine’s Day. I understand the extra revenue, but the planning itself just wasn’t there. And to top it off, our bill was pretty high and we would’ve loved to spend more had we actually been serviced. In my opinion, the restaurant itself should have planned better and actually staffed more servers or limit it to reservations only, or at least done something else to support staff. Clearly this was not the case, and they should’ve just remained closed if this is the service they were going...

Takeaway customers beware! Pickup times take an average of 25+ minutes extra since dine-in service started again. And, keep in mind, there's nowhere to park legally while waiting.

We have supported Shokudo, its staff, and sushi chefs on a weekly basis for months during Covid. Never had a complaint because the fish had always fresh and the food was ready on time. It was a 5-star restaurant until recently.

It is truly unfortunate that the "support local" reciprocity stops when dine-in customers come back. Takeaway orders have taken a backseat and over the last few weeks orders have been taking longer and longer to be prepared. Even though the picktime hasn't adjusted to the new influx of customers.

The first and second time this happened I ignored it. I figured they were just getting adjusted to the new routine. However the third time, a Wednesday evening, having to wait over 25 minutes extra is unacceptable. If only the pickup time was adjusted I wouldn't have to circle the block, moving from double parking to illegal parking spots the entire time. (Btw, I have seen a meter person giving out tickets even if you're just picking up. Be careful if you park around the bus stop.)

When the food was finally ready to be picked up the host apologized and said that Sudoku is unable to predict the wait times accurately and walked away.

To me this was an extremely disheartening and empty gesture. How can that be the end of the conversation after all this time investing in this restaurant? I'm sure he was really busy and overwhelmed but maybe an invitation to speak with a manager or something else could have helped.

I am definitely not looking to "cancel" Shokudo but I will be ordering OMAKAI next week to see if they have the same issue with predicting pickup times.

Also, if anything changes, I'll update this review. I don't like leaving bad reviews especially for restaurants that I believe...

I’ve been coming here for years. I love their food and I stand by that because it is delicious, but I just had the worst experience with who I can only believe is the owner. After ordering about 8 dishes to share, we ordered the jalapeño poppers from the happy hour menu and it wasn’t what we expected. The tuna was cooked and the jalapeños were raw so it wasn’t really for us, but we asked to pack it up and take it to go instead of returning it to the kitchen. We then proceeded to order another spicy tuna roll to take when the server mentioned they would have to charge the $15 for the roll instead of $8. I didn’t think this was okay considering the circumstances so I asked if he could bring it to the table, we would eat some and probably take the rest to go. The owner then came to the table and said we could not do this because IT IS COMMON SENSE AND I SHOULD BE ABLE TO KNOW THAT. Mind you, nowhere on the menu does it say we cannot take things to go at this price - nowhere. This is policy, regulation, company rules - not common sense. Never have I been insulted in such a manner at an establishment. Also, being a restaurant manager for 10 years I would never dare to speak to a guest this way. When I approached her before leaving and apologized if I made anyone uncomfortable but she should not speak to customers in that way because it’s disrespectful, she proceeded to roll her eyes and turn around. So sad that I went to have dinner with my mom, was having an amazing time and left with never wanting to return to this place again. I’m gonna miss the amazing food,...
