Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Michigan City

First we asked if we could have a water when he delivered our food, our son had asked for it after we ordered. He told us he was extremely busy so he could not get it at this moment plus it would be a charge, a little rude but no big deal we just said ok never mind thanks anyway! Then a wrap was missing, again no big deal it happens! They brought it out. Shortly after that I am 1/4 of the way through drinking my shake and I find a whole ketchup wrapper in my shake. We told them and a different girl came out and gave me a free coupon and said “that’s the best we can do because I just don’t know how that could happen our cups and ketchup aren’t even close to each other” I said I did not do this myself since she was clearly insinuating that I did, I just want the money back for the shake she said no and walked away. I went to the front and spoke with the man we had the first couple times and I was very polite saying I’m sorry I won’t be coming back I don’t want the coupon (I threw up from it, it grossed me out so bad.) I told them this also and he got so mad and aggressive saying he could only do a full refund which he wouldn’t do since we ate our other food, I said it’s not necessary I just want the money for the shake. He said it was impossible and slammed the door in my face. After having an awful day it was the cherry on top. We have 3 kids, our power has been out since 10pm last night and still is. We just came out to get some good food to put ourselves in a better mood that way we didn’t have to open our fridge and let the cool air out....

Came thru the drive thru today and there was one person before me, otherwise the place was empty. I ordered 2 garlic butter bacon cheeseburgers, with an added patty to make it a double, with no grilled onions, and a small fry. Got my order, drove all the way back to Chesterton to find out there were grilled onions all over BOTH burgers. Not just a few, but what looked like a huge handful. I would have been able to pick them off and be fine, but after the 20 minute drive home, the entire burger, and bun tasted like onions, even after picking each one off. While picking each one off, they were covered in the garlic butter/mayo sauce, so that went in the trash too. By the time I got them all off, what I really had was a plain double cheeseburger that tasted of nothing but onions, and not much of a garlic taste was to be found.. So I paid for a featured burger just to eat a plain old burger. Disappointing to say the least...was not about to drive another 20 minutes there and back...I dont even want to get into the half cooked but still slightly hard fries...

came back to add, if you need to walk away from this restaurant, PLEASE consider moving to Chesterton, Indiana. Great beaches, so alot of customers, and in the winter, a Sonic in the winter would...

Tale of two visits, first time was disappointed with no indoor seating. Don't really care for kiosk type ordering anyway but mic's and speakers are jack in the box quality and kiosk is located next to a busy highway so I will give the operator behind the wall a break for trouble hearing and getting names and order. Delivery of food was too slow. Got the chicken basket which lists onion rings as part of it. Maybe it said it on the menu but should be listed as Onion Ring as only received one in both orders. Food was average at best. Not impressed for a first time at Sonic. Don't really see the buzz. I decided to try a second time for a burger thinking maybe this was their forte. Ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon . Operator was very nice. Took the order and I pulled forward to pick up the food. Waitress was outside waiting. Had difficulty with the credit card machine but can't really blame her for corporate lapses. Felt better about the visit till I got back to work and prepared to eat my cheeseburger which was disguised quite well as a chicken sandwich. Haven't decided if I will try...
