Nana's Kitchen — Restaurant in Middletown Township

Nanna's Kitchen and their staff were absolutely amazing this past weekend. I had a bridal shower for my daughter at Nanna's Kitchen and booked the large dining room, I had 65 people attending the shower. Joey, who helped me from when I booked the shower (about a year ago) was so responsive and helpful. She was very accommodating and I feel I have a new friend now. Erica, one of the staff members, was also very helpful. I only met her a week prior to my shower to go over the table settings and arrangements. Erica was very helpful the night before and day of the shower. Their entire staff was so friendly and went over and above to make this day special for my daughter. Even the chef came out when we were putting the final touches on the tables and placing all the flowers around the restaurant. He took pictures and said he thought the way we put the runners on the tables (thank you to Joey for them) and the sage green napkins along with the flowers I made and all the special touches I did to the restaurant and bathrooms, really was beautiful. He was even taking pictures! The food was exceptional! I arranged to have Barbara King (who plays piano at Nanna's often) play the piano to close to 2 hours, she played beautifully and it was such a nice touch. I received so many text messages and calls the day after the shower saying that Nanna's Kitchen is a " hidden gem" in Middletown and that the shower was beautiful. First time at Nana’s Kitchen -simply wonderful! We dined on Saturday evening. They had a Jazz duo - piano and bass that provided great dinner music comparable to any of the great supper clubs in Manhattan. Great musicians! Dinner was excellent! There were four of us dining. We ordered two appetizers for the table- Vongole and Cozze. The Vongole had very fresh medium size little neck clams in a white wine lemon sauce, a little too salty for my liking, but very tasty. The Cozze was fresh PEI muscles in a tangy and delicious Italian red sauce. For the entree I had the grilled Ahi Tuna filet, served medium rare Asian - Italian fusion style. It was SM accompanied with sauté spinach over mashed potatoes with a mildly hot tasty wasabi and soy reduction - so delicious! Two others had the Grouper special with crab stuffing served with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes with a very tasty sauce - enjoyed by everyone. The other person in our party went with the Bone-in veal chop. A very large cut and very tender and delicious. My overall impression is that this is a first-rate restaurant and among the best Italian Continental style restaurants in all of Monmouth Ocean counties. Had a great dinner at Nana’s. Place is nicely decorated inside and is very deceiving from the outside and is way bigger than it looks. Has another room with tables which I would assume you could have a party in. It’s BYOB which is always great. I ordered the mussels in the white sauce for appetizer and they were incredible. Kind of wish they brought more bread to dip. The menu says it came with ciabatta but we never received it. I had the veal chop special which was very tender and cooked to perfection while my wife ordered the braised short rib over Pappadelle pasta. Both were delicious. I contemplated taking off 1 star because our server was a little inattentive. But it was minor. It took like over 10 minutes for him to even acknowledge us while we sat down and just felt like we were kind of put on the back burner. It didn’t ruin our meal by any means and he was friendly and even gave us gelato on the house which was very nice. The hostess greeted us right away and was very nice.
