My family and I have been loyal Mango Mango customers for years, and we were genuinely excited when the Middletown location finally opened. It meant we no longer had to drive to the Newark or Philadelphia locations just to enjoy our favorite desserts.
Unfortunately, after two recent visits to this new location, both for takeout orders, we’ve been disappointed. The first time, one of the mango desserts (A6 on the menu) came in at barely half the usual portion. I returned to the store, and the woman at the front desk, who was very kind and professional, agreed something was off and had a new one made for me. I appreciated how she handled it and chalked it up as a one-time mistake.
Today, we gave the Middletown location another try. Same dessert, same issue, again, we were given a half-filled to-go container. We went back inside to ask about it, wondering if maybe something had changed. The staff member we spoke with told us that the Newark location was “breaking regulations” by giving bigger portions, and that Middletown was “doing it the right way.”
That explanation doesn’t sit right. We’ve never experienced this at any other Mango Mango location. And calling full portions “breaking regulations” feels like a convenient excuse rather than a real answer. It’s disappointing, especially when we’re paying the same price for noticeably less.
We still love Mango Mango and will continue to support the brand, but we’ll be going back to the Newark or Philly locations from now on. I understand running a business isn’t easy and profits matter, but cutting corners like this risks losing the trust of your most loyal customers. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and consider making some...
Read moreIt's like they had no idea how a restaurant worked. My friend and I ordered at the counter. The cashier/waitress asked if it was my first time, I said yes and she gave an overview of the menu. SO MANY of the options were unavailable. I would say about a quarter of the menu. My friend orders a mango puree with little boba balls and a piece of cheesecake. I order this waffle ice cream sandwich. We sit and my friend is immediately brought her items. I sat and watched my friend eat for about 10 minutes. She finished and I have been given nothing. We are in a hurry, so I go up to cancel the order. The cashier/waitress asked if I want to take it with me. I inform her that I have long drive home and do not like to eat my car. She told me she could put it in a container. Iq looked at her, confused, and said, "It's ice cream, it will melt, yes?" She spoke with someone in the back, trying to find any reason to deny my refund and then informed me, very rudely, that, "Just so you know that item usually takes 10 minutes to prepare." I said, "How was I supposed to know that? I told you this was my first time here and when I ordered it you didn't tell me that." She asked me what she's supposed to do. I said "Normal restaurants would have waited until my item was done and brought them all out together, because my friend's item were quickly put together." Bad vibes from the...
Read moreTerrible customer service. I was honestly shocked. My family and I ordered 4 items, 2 drinks and 2 desserts. My SIL's drink was terrible. She took one sip and couldn't stomach it and went up to see if it was possible to exchange it.
The people at the counter were rude, made faces at her, and after asking their manager, told her no refunds or exchanges.
I understand if they said this if she'd actually drunk her drink. If she'd had half or even a quarter. But she literally had one sip. And she was denied.
So I asked to speak with the manager because the drink was almost $9 and in this economy, we can't throw away money. The manager, with a smirk on his face, told me that they made the drink perfectly and if we didn't like it, that was our problem.
I've never had such terrible customer service in my life at a food place and for a place that just opened up, you would think they would try a bit harder to be kind to customers since they're obviously still working out hiccups.
We will not be coming back.
I've been to other Mango Mango locations in New Jersey and I will say, the food and customer service had always been top notch. I guess this franchise owner doesn't care about customer service since I'm not the first to...
