I come to Newport every year and I’ve been curious to try this place because I love Mexican food! Well during covid, we wanted to order for take out. The lady who answered the phone sounded very pleasant and nice. She apologized for putting me on hold. I could tell they were short on staff and busy through the phone while holding. Well she never came back to me. Seemed like she forgot. I waited like 30 mins ... maybe more. So we decided to just go there and order in the restaurant. Well the restaurant itself wasn’t full... they had one table. But looked like more busy with takeout. Two staff on the floor. One waitress/bartender nicely greeted me but couldn’t help me right away. So I asked the other waitress. She was very kind and assisted me. I had a lot of orders from my family. So I started ordering. I was trying to make sure I order the right items so I spoke slowly. The waitress seemed little irritated by this. Then I couldn’t remember one order for a family member and I told the waitress if I can just text really quick to ask. Then she got really snappy and said she had people on hold on the phone and had to get drinks for some customers. I told her I called and was put on hold and no one got back to me. Told her it would take me 3 seconds and she got irritated and snappy again and said she’ll come back after she serves the drinks. Then I just canceled the whole order. So I never had the chance to taste their food. But I defiantly don’t want to if I have to deal with that kind of attitude from that...
Read moreThis was by far the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants. First off, after about 25 minutes, a server finally came to our table. When we got our drinks, mine had this weird film over it, like it was washed with oily dishes. It looked like the BP oil spill. I didn't complain, just noted it mentally and went on. Once we got our food (another 30 minutes), we proceeded to eat, but guess what? No silverware!! As I looked around the restaurant, I noticed that we were not the only patrons wondering how we would eat our meals, without looking like neanderthals. I just got up, and got ours myself. Now the fun part. To say that this food was anyting less than disgusting would be a compliment. My food was mostly vegetables, like, whole onions, with about 4 pieces of steak, which I would definitely not describe as "tasty". After struggling through the meal, I notice that my fiancée is enjoying her meal as much as mine. She pulls out this gray piece of meat, and was puzzled as to what it was. I said it was a scallop, at least that was the form the gelatinous mess took. After eating, and paying, we went back to our hotel. About 30 minutes later, my fiancée had horrible stomach pains, followed by a painful, and sleepless night. I too had stomach pains, just not as severe as hers. The only thing that was decent were the chips and salsa. God how I wish I would've just stuck to the chips and salsa. Needless to say, we will not be returning, EVER. If you do decide to go there, it's...
Read moreWhere do I start. Me and my family of 6 came from North Carolina on vacation and decided to try this place out for dinner. Our waitress had a snarky attitude from the get go. I decided to give her a chance, but throughout the entire experience she had a an attitude and continuously would correct me on things that were super obvious or put what I said in different words which was simply pointless and unnecessary. Now for the food. The fajita chicken was as dry as can be (you can tell they were from the frozen bag you would get from the store), the rice was bland and tasted like it was from a bag, tacos were basic and flavorless. So the food was terrible to say the least. The only OKAY thing was a basic chicken and cheese quesadilla. When we initially received the food we asked for napkins. About 20 mins passed and the napkins never came and the waitress never came around. We finally decided we were ready for the bill. I had to go look for her, and when I saw her at the bar she said “are you waiting on the napkins” and I said “no, we’re waiting for the bill”. In response she said nothing and rolled her eyes. At the end of it all we received the bill of more than $100. I then payed and decided to tip not because of the service received (terrible), but because of the amount charged for the food. All in all, save your money if you want decent food. We should’ve just gone to the Taco Bell next door. It would’ve been a lot...
