Saturday night for dinner and not crowded at all (I guess I'm used to restaurants in Phoenix being extremely busy on Saturday night). Our server, Kelsey, came to our table right away and took our drink order but gave us time to look over the menu for dinner. We ordered, as a starter, the chicken guyzo (?) and fried, sweet tofu. Both good but I liked the tofu better. Before our rolls came out Kelsey brought us yellow fin tuna to try. Mild with that definite "tuna" taste at the end, very good. I ordered the Honeymoon. Sorry I can't remember what was in it but it was delicious. Hubby's roll, Crouching Tiger, came with masago (?) so I actually took that and mine came with a fire sauce (on the side) which hubby took because it was extremely spicy, in my humble opinion! It was nice having those items on the side (by request) so we could pick and choose to make our dish to our liking. Nice atmosphere, not too uppity, casual enough to wear jeans. It might be kind of fun to set at the bar and order but I liked being at the window. The Malbec wine is good too 👍 I liked that Kelsey didn't intrude much, but our water was always filled. Cons? I can't give 5 stars only because the food isn't spectacular. It's good but not quite to that level. Plus the decor is nice but too casual for 5 stars, again in my humble opinion. Would I return, absolutely but for a casual evening or lunch, not necessarily a special occasion.

Went to midland for the first time in a long time, didn't where to go to eat. After looking at the choices, we decided to go here and I'm totally glad we did! Staff was really nice and professional! Very clean! We started with a gyoza appetizer, which was fried and it had great flavor and texture along with the sauce that came with it. Next I got the bulgogi bowl which had the beef, egg and rice with vegetables and that was also really good, the flavors mixed well together. Next was the Atlantic sushi, now I'm not one for sushi or at least raw sushi. But they had the choice to cook the salmon that was on it, let me tell that it was definitely a great choice to get this roll, tasted amazing, great texture, salmon was cooked nicely and last I got a cheesecake with blueberry jam and cookie crumble crust, tasted amazing and the blueberry was sweet and tart, great combination! The only that was happened that was unfortunate was that the lady serving us spilled yum yum sauce on me but accidents happen so I wasnt bothered, but they were kind enough to give me a discount for the mishap! Overall I was impressed by this place and I highly recommend checking this place out next time you're in Midland!

What happened Maru? Very disappointed in both food and service. A month ago had the most amazing time.. food use to be great... and service was great. If I would have ever recieved service like this at any other place I would not come back. Ever. Not only did we sit down and not greated.... it took over ten minutes to even get asked what we would like to drink... our food well... my food didn't come out until my boyfriend was almost done eating... To the point he was almost finished eating 3 entire rolls before I even got my food. No effort to remedy the situation. My food came out dry flavorless. I could have gotten better at a cheap buffet. At least we wouldn't have wasted $70 bucks and wasted an hour and 15 minutes. Of which is way too long for two people... not a cent of the built in gratuity was earned by anyone but the sushi guys... We were here to celebrate a birthday. Instead return it ruined it. Also as a side note there should be cameras surrounding the bar. There were some workers taking liberties behind the bar.

Best place in town for sushi! The sushi is always fresh and tasty, the spicy mayo is super hot which I love. The arrangement of the plating is very thoughtful and the extra touches really make the higher price justified. I also tried the Teriyaki Glazed Chicken and wow, that was also super yummy! The service is also great, host always seats my family quickly, waiter/waitress are attentive and helpful. The first time we went, the waiter even took our food back to the kitchen to put into to-go boxes for us! That was so helpful and kind. The restaurant is very sleek and clean, a quiet atmosphere great for get togethers. I’ve gotten takeout from here, also very easy and simple to do. I just ordered online and paid, went to the restaurant and the host had my bag up front and just handed it to me. It was so efficient and quick, great for those for a shorter lunch period. I don’t have anything to add currently that I would like to see differently, it was a great two experiences there and a great takeout experience.

I was not really impressed with Maru but will say I'm going to give it another chance. We were here at about noon and were seated quickly. We ordered a drink (Fall Fashion) which was just ok (atypical whiskey used) and ordered food. I got the ribeye cooked medium and my wife got philly rolls and crouching tiger. Her food arrived after about 15 mins and our waiter was no where to be seen. I waited an additional 10 mins for my food which was mediocre for the price. The steak had no real flavor without the butter or yum yum sauce. The miso soup, rice and grilled veggies were excellent however. We waited another 15 mins for our waiter to show up (after asking for him though another server) to try another drink. We got the Moon Drunk Punch which even though it didn't list grapefruit in it, that was all we could taste. Terrible. As I said, not impressed with this place at all but want to give it another chance in case this was just a fluke.

In the East End of Midland's downtown is this Maru sushi restaurant. Excellent menu with many options and friendly staff to help you. Cool vibe in a modern spacious building with high ceilings and nice lighting. I asked for gluten free options and waitress Keelie suggested a chef roll. She asked about my likes and dislikes and the roll that Chef Zack prepared was amazingly delicious. I asked for a spicy version and it was perfect... not too hot. My friend ordered Nigiri and was very happy as well. They also have a full stocked bar. We sat at a window table on this occasion but on a previous visit we dined at the bar and enjoyed a friendly discussion with the bartender. You will enjoy the food and be treated well here.
