Great food, wonderful service and smart looking atmosphere. But let me expound for you on those points đ We met family here at 6 pm on Sunday evening and we were seated in the bar area. Casual dining experience with views of Main Street (not that exciting of a view but at least not a wall). The booths are comfortable and the high top tables at the window would be fun to sit at too. The decor is simple yet somewhat elegant but I didn't feel uncomfortable in jeans đ. The restaurant never really got busy, at least not to a point where we really noticed an uptick of noise. We ordered pre dinner drinks. I got the sangria which was tasty but maybe needed to be a bit sweeter. Others ordered a berry bubbly which she liked and an old fashioned and he thought it was fantastic! Bread came to the table but we had to ask for olive oil and balsamic. Olive oil seemed a little light for my taste but it worked for the bread. Our appetizer came which was the meatball pizza. Yummy crust, nice sauce and adequate toppings. Enough for the four of us to share. A person in our party ordered the chicken soup (sorry I won't be quoting the Italian names from the menu) and that would also be good for lunch with the yummy bread. I ordered the filet espresso medium rare, more to the rare side and that's pretty much how it came. The espresso coating was not something I've had before and I didn't particularly like the way it crusted. It reminded me of burnt coffee, bleck. But it was slight enough that I still enjoyed the steak but I probably wouldn't order again. I sampled what everyone ordered...the chicken something or other with spaghetti - delicious with a tasty tomato sauce, "little ear" pasta with pancheta (?) and chicken in a light cheesy kind of sauce - loved how Chris, our server, brought this to the table in a jar and literally shook it up to mix and poured it into the bowl! And finally the bolognese - also tasty with the correct firmness for the pasta. A bottle of The Prisoner complemented our dinner perfectly and is a remarkable wine! For dessert we shared the gelato covered with espresso and creme brulee. Both excellent but that espresso was dee-lish! I also had a regular coffee which was good but I'd probably have a double espresso next time, it was that good! To end the evening Chris poured us each a shot of limoncello to which we toasted family! We ended up staying until closing but never felt rushed or that they wanted us to leave. Chris was attentive but never pushy or intrusive. I may be back to sit at the bar or perhaps the patio with a glass of wine đ

Place is ok for it being in a small town. Many reasons for only 2 stars. We made a reservation 4 days ahead of time and when we checked in, the guy asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar or in the bar area at a high top. Wasnât that the whole reason to make a reservation in the first place so we didnât have to sit there?? It was not at all busy the entire time we were there so no reason to cram everyone over there either! The bread was nice but the oil accompaniment was very bitter and tasted terrible. We ordered calamari and they only give you the rings (little) which leads us to believe itâs not fresh. Everywhere else that serves fresh calamari gives you the legs along with the rings. Mustard sauce with it was ok but itâs not traditional. My pasta was very salty and while the noodles were cooked al dente, some of the pasta noodles were gloped/stuck together and had no sauce. The chicken dish faired better and portion sizes are good. The whole time we were eating (inside dining) we had little food flies at our table. We had to keep swishing them away from our food which took away from the whole experience of enjoying our meal. For fine dining, food flies shouldnât be in here! The tiramisu was pretty good. If you have a great Italian restaurant in your own home town and youâre just passing thru, donât go here as youâll be very disappointed.

An ode to Caprese... What I loved: ⢠The caprese was over the top good! The burrata cheese alone is a reason to visit Gratzi. There was a sweetness in the drizzled syrup that paired beautifully with the tomatoes and cheese. Simply put, you do not find plates of this caliber in Michigan. ⢠The atmosphere was phenomenal. Beautiful restaurant. ⢠The service was superb. Excellently done Eduardo. What I did not love: ⢠Sadly, I did not love the entree. I went with the Pappardelle Bolognese. While the tomato based sauce was so uniqueâthe touch of lemon really elevated it from a standard sauceâit was knocked down by the overwhelming amount of veal. The sauce to meat ratio was really off. The pappardelle noodle was perfectly done, the sauce flavor was great; it was simply the crushing amount of meat that negatively impacted the flavor and texture. ⢠The bread. Someone got heavy handed with herbs. It sat untouched at my table. Other notables: ⢠The meal started with a delightful little arancini, and ended with complimentary limocello. Both were nice touches toward an authentic Italian dining experience. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience. Had the entree not been a miss, it would have gotten 5 stars.

I would never waste my money here again. My husband and I went on Christmas Eve to have an upscale night out. The only thing upscale are the prices. The dressing on my ceasar salad was way overpowered with garlic. My chicken parmesean was dry and lacking. The woman that grated the parmesean onto my entree flung it all over me and never said I'm sorry or addressed it at all. My husband's carbonara was bland and flavorless like they didn't season it at all. Then we got dessert, and the waitress said it was going to take a little bit because they were backed up with orders, and it came out burnt! The dessert was the best thing we ordered and it was burnt! Also, we sat in the bar area, and the male bartender was singing everything he spoke, and I mean EVERYTHING. It was probably the most annoying and nerve-wracking thing I've ever had to deal with while dining somewhere. Our bill was over $100, and we did not enjoy one part of it besides being together. I will never dine here again. The only reason I would even give it one star is because our waitress was a good waitress.

My husband and I were in town visiting and stopped in to celebrate his birthday with his Aunt and Uncle. The food was amazing, the service the best I've ever experienced and atmosphere luxurious. Thank you for an incredible experience. We had caesar salad, calamari, the Alfredo da Tavola and Braciola di Vitello Toscana. đ

I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Staff were attentive and helpful describe the dishes with ease. The table side demonstration was fun as well. I will return next time I am in Midland.
