I really wish that I could give True Texas BBQ a good review, because to be honest, their food is excellent. I have ate there many times by myself and enjoy their sandwiches. Unfortunately, my most recent experience with their customer service is going to be the final time I consider giving them business.
On Friday, December 7th I went in to HEB to True Texas BBQ to inquire about pricing and scheduling for a small catering order for 20 people (for our company Christmas Party). The lady that helped me got out her catering order form, but quickly put it away when I said it was only for 20 people, and suggested I ordered a "24 person Party Pack". That sounded great! I asked to have it scheduled for Friday the 14th of December. She advised me that they do not take scheduled orders for Party Packs, because they are on their regular menu and do not qualify as a catering order. She told me to call the evening of Thursday the 13th to place the order for the following day. I even confirmed with her that due to the Holiday season it would not be an issue. She assured me it would not be.
Fast forward to Thursday the 13th, I called at 3:45 PM to place the order. The lady that picked up the phone told me they are NOT taking any orders for the following day as they are all booked up. I explained my previous interaction with the other employee the previous week, and she repeated that her manager advised the employees not to take any more orders for Friday the 14th. I then asked to speak to her manager. A man picked up the phone, and told me the same thing after I explained the issue again. He told me that HE would have taken my order the previous Friday. The fact of the matter is that his employee told me otherwise, and my company's Christmas party was relying on this catering order. He then flat out told me that they would not make my order for the next day. Now you tell me where I am going to beable to get a catering order on a 0 days notice during the holidays? Thats right, nowhere.
It really is a shame how this was handled. Given that the first employee I talked to on the 7th gave me incorrect information, they should have been able to accommodate my order...
Read moreWell I have to say I'm really impressed with this BBQ place. I was told it could get pretty busy at dinner the so I went at 0530pm to beat the rush. It worked because there was a descent line when I left a quarter past 6. The ladies at the register and pick window were very nice so great customer service. I ordered the 3 meat platter and paid extra for the ribs. This 3 meat combo came with 2 sides, bread, pickles and onions. It was enough food for two people but I attempted to tackle it on my own. The mac and cheese was really delicious. Good cheese flavor and good texture on the Mac. Will definitely get it again. I also had the brisket beans and they also tasted great. The base had great flavor with a little kick. The beans were cooked well and the brisket really made the flavor pop. I was lucky enough to get a couple pieces of fatty brisket and they really soaked the flavor up. Delicious! The fatty brisket was great with a nice bark and great smoked flavor. It also had a very nice smoke ring. The pulled pork had a nice crispy texture to it without being dry. Went well with the peppered BBQ sauce. The ribs were my favorite though, great smoky flavor that went all the way through, nice crispy bark on the outside and fall off the bone tender on the inside. They were perfect. Glad I decided to stop by. I'm not a local but my local HEB north of Houston has a true Texas that I never tried. Will have to take the family to the local one so they can try it out. Hopefully they have the Tuesday $1 pint night like this one does. I went on a Wednesday so no dollar beer for me. Wonk wonk. They do have trivia on Wednesday though. This may be my go to place when...
Read moreI usually tend to go to eat at HEB's BBQ place almost every time I shop there, today 8/6/16 at 8:25pm I decided to go to eat at the restaurant with my mother who is from out of town and does not know the BBQ place or the menu so I wanted her to try it since my girlfriend and I like the food there. Let me tell you I will shop at HEB, however I will not eat there anymore because...
1.) The cashier was rude to my mother because my mother was a little indecisive so the cashier had no patience for her or me as a customer. I also apologized to the cashier for my mother's indecisiveness and at first the apology seemed like it was accepted but then the actions the cashier chose to do showed that it wasn't the case. As follows in reason number 2.
2.) She rang out our transaction and never gave us the beeper nor told the guys in the back to make our food. 20 minutes later I come to find out that our food wasn't even being made and I knew something was wrong because the cashier had a grin on her face and was laughing with her fellow cashier as if the whole time she checked us out like she did something wrong on purpose. After I talked to the gentleman in the back in the serving/pick up station he got the cooks to make our food in five minutes and apologized.
I'm in customer service and I am not perfect but I would never treat a customer with such disrespect as we have been given tonight when we were nothing but polite to the cashier. I hope this will be brought to her attention that her actions tonight were not that of someone who should be in...
