When we walked in, I walked up to the hostess stand and she just said, “grill?” I responded yes and she told me to follow another hostess who was sitting another party. I started to tell her we weren’t with them and that we had 7 people. She stated it was ok and to keep going. So we did. Only 4 of us were present at the moment, but we figured it was ok because she didn’t even ask if everyone was there yet. They were busy so I understand her trying to get people in. After we sat down, the waitress (who was awesome by the way) came by and took our drink orders and then brought us the soup. The manager ended up coming by and rudely stated, “did they not tell you that you needed your whole party here?” I told her she didn’t and that I tried to tell her that it was a party of 7, but that we were ok and to keep walking. The manager then said that we were going to have to get up and go back to the front and wait for everyone to get there. I told her that we already had food and drinks in front of us, so why would they make us move? And that the other 3 people were literally 2 minutes away. She ended up letting us stay, but only because she knew she was in the wrong. Fast forward to hibachi chef. He was terrible. He didn’t even make the orders properly. Was too focused on everything else around him. We had a kid at the table and didn’t bother to do any of the fun stuff for them. When he was throwing the rice, he tried making what he thought was a funny joke towards me, but it was incredibly insulting. I told him I didn’t want to catch the rice and he kept insisting. I turned my head because I was extremely annoyed. He ended up flicking the rice at my head. I would have gone to the manager, but she was already on my bad side. He didn’t portion any of the food out properly. He gave a small child the majority of noodles and gave a grown man, a child’s portion. Now, let’s talk about our waitress. SHE WAS SO GREAT. Apologized about any issue we were having. I assume they’re used to this terrible manager so she probably knew why we were mad. She did everything she could to make sure our experience was great. I would literally only go back just for her. That manager should be fired after all of the terrible reviews I’ve seen on her. Really will never understand why y’all keep her around, but definitely understand why y’all have such a...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating at this place for the several weeks before my trip to Texas. I absolutely love Japanese Teppanyaki and was really looking forward to eating here. When we arrived we stood at the front reception desk that was empty for about 5 minutes before anyone came over to seat us which was discouraging from the start as it was mostly empty and not crowded with people.
We were seated at one of the grills and our waiter came over promptly and took our drink order followed by sushi and appetizers. We waited about 15 minutes to get those which the sushi was pretty good and we enjoyed, but the dumplings I am almost certain were the ones you get from the frozen food in any grocery store. Barely fried and pretty generic in flavor.
We were the only ones at the grill and waited another 20 minutes or so for our cook to come out and start making our Teppanyaki meal. We didn't really get a "show" as I've come to expect as he was very quiet and basic. The tables behind us were having a good time and interacting, but we just sat there in silence watching a general preparation of our food.
The food itself was actually very good in flavor which was shrimp, chicken, and filet, and the noodles were also pretty good. I was surprised how literally everything was drowned in a butter liquid and not much else, so the food had its general flavor with some butter. I also expected the double dishes of dipping sauces for the meat that is served with almost every other Teppanyaki I've had, but we were served none or anything else.
Our chef cleaned the table and thanked us and left. Overall the food was pretty decent and fairly priced as I got the "Samurai" combination from the lunch menu, and felt like it was a dinner portion so that was pretty nice. The sushi was also pretty decent and tasted fresh, but the overall service and show I felt was pretty severely lacking. Kind of expect dinner and a show and we really just got some griddle cooked meat and noodles. I would go here again only because I can see the potential and the food was good, but I hope they put a little more effort into the experience and some of the other aspects that come...
Read moreIf I am to describe this place in one word, 'lacking' would be it. Walking into the restaurant at 9pm they told us all the hibachi seats were full and if we would like a side table instead. Sure, that'll work if we'd be seated right away! Nope, she hands us a number and tells us to wait. Very confusing. As we wait for our table, a group with reservation comes to dine in but was also told to wait. Funny thing is, the hostess took our number and handed it to them.
Now as we were taken to our 'table' I notice a little water way that surrounds the center of the restaurant where all the hibachi grills were at. There hangs a sign that says 'we feed our shark daily'. Couldn't tell if that was a joke or if they really have some baby shark there but I saw nothing the entire time. Anyhow, We waited about 10 minute for our waitress to even come near our table.
I've actually never been to a place that only has fork on the table set up. No spoon and no knife at a hibachi restaurant. Our server brings us a bowl of soup and this had me confusing cause she didnt give us a spoon. "Do you have a spoon for this?"..."oh you just drink it, but if you want a spoon I can get you one"....confused again, shouldn't you bring a spoon when serving soup? At least give me an option to use a spoon than have me ask for it.
I had a rock n roll and chicken teriyaki. Rock n roll was good. Crispy shrimp with eel on top, tasty and flavorful. Teriyaki chicken and the fried rice that came with it, not so much. The teriyaki sauce was way way too sweet and they dont go easy on it, theres plenty sauce there for you to make another batch of teriyaki chicken. Option for fried rice is extra if you choose it over steamed rice. The fried rice was dry with little flavor to it. Honestly, dont get the fried rice and save that $2.50. The only thing that was good from the teriyaki chicken plate was the vegetables.
Overall, lacking. Put the $60 you'll spend with your friend/family and plan your next...
