Fountainville Creamery & Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Midland

At this moment I am extremely disappointed with this establishment and it seems that you can't even go to a old time favorite ice cream parlor and not be greeted with a minimal amount of hospitality. I am fully aware of where I live and the reputation this town has for general appreciation of one another but when my son, a newly diagnosed diabetic walks into an establishment to one not only be a paying patron but two to have the ability to walk into a hometown business to be disrespected for a simple request. He asks "do you have any sugar free ice cream" only to responded with "we don't believe in anything sugar free here". Now to some that may not be that big of a concern but to someone that is now having to live thier life every day depending upon an injection to keep them alive such responses from an insensitive employee can be crushing. I can not in any good sense give this business anything more than one star. I have had ice cream from here. I do love the originality of it. I don't ever share my opinion on platforms such as this but under the circumstance I feel just cause I hope the owners do read this and I hope they understand. Lucky the ice cream is good but after the customer service of tonight I’m not sure if we will be back. There were two teens working and one was on FaceTime. She attempted to hide it by pretending to do a TikTok dance while waiting for us to order but continued to tell the person on the phone she had a customer. Ordered my daughter’s scoop first, only for it to come out last. We also ordered a fudgy fudgy with cookie dough ice cream. The scoop was a good size but sadly the quarter pump of fudge was disappointing as well as the lack of cookie dough present. The last item we ordered was the turtle Sunday with caliche ice cream. Well let’s just say the Carmel on top was the bottle not hot, and I had asked specifically for the hot or else I would have asked for a different topping. The lack of ice cream was just ridiculous, two spoonfuls and that was all, the plastic spoonfuls. And then she shoved it towards us. I really hope this turns around before midland...

I was so excited to try this place. We saw the parking lot packed every night on our way into the hotel. One night we finally got back early enough and I really wish we wouldn’t have. I don’t know if we’re “spoiled” where we live with the ice cream shops or if this one in particular was really just a let down. Upon entering and stepping in line we weren’t really acknowledged or even explained anything. There was only 2 labels on flavors. We could also barely hear even when they did speak. When one of the girls was scooping our ice cream, the scoop and dish fell into another flavor. She asked the other girl if she should get it out and we watched the girl who came over reach into the container with bare hands and just grab it out. $22 for 3 very small cones.
