I visited Chuck's back in December on.a dinner date with my son. I tried to tip the car hop and accidentally charged myself 35.00 extra, making my total 68.52. I did not catch it, but the lovely car hop did and came back out to alert me. I was again charged 35.00, making it even with the added tip and was told the 68.52 would credit back to my account. Upon my online bank statement showing no credit only deduction from my account I contacted the place of business. I spoke with a lady named Alicia. She took my information and told me I would be contacted. A couple weeks later I call back to touch base, due to thinking maybe holiday and New Year delays..I spoke to Alicia again and she asked me if I had the ticket number, I told her I don't know where it was but I would definitely look for it. Last night I found the two receipts from 12/17/22 and call this morning to speak to a manager, specifically Alicia. Initially I was told there wasn't a manager there and it would be about an hour. I explained my purpose and Melissa ended up getting on the phone. I told her I found the receipt and wasn't sure exactly what Alicia needed to help my situation. Melissa began looking up my transaction without the need of further information from me. Upon her research she continues to tell me they credited back my money. I asked her if she can give me proof of that credit back and she hung up in my face. I called back she hung up again. I called a third time and some one else answered. I said my name and to tell Melissa I'm on my way up there for a copy of proof. Melissa began yelling through the phone, "I'm right here!" I hung up. And drove up there. Melissa came and said there's no physical proof but she can show me the credit. I seen no transaction at all as proof of repayment. I told her I have proof where it was taken out on my phone, went to the car came back and she told me that wasn't good enough I needed physical proof to take to her boss. I asked why I couldn't speak to the boss? She said cause he ain't here, you got to catch him! My bank is one block from Chuck's! So I told her Ok! I'll be right back and I want my money back when I return. When I returned I was told Melissa was on the phone with their credit card dept. So I waited for her, she came to tell me the refund never happened and she wants to apologize for that, I told her I needed an apology from her, how she treated me over the phone, because I been calling for a month and no one (Alicia) has had a problem communicating with me! She refused saying I was ugly to her first! Then she asked me for both my receipts so she can refund me the correct amount, I showed her my bank statement, and said $68.52. She refunded my money and walked away as I said, Thank you, have a wonderful day. Had I not gone up there and jumped hurdles to prove myself, they would've not given me a call back. Let alone proof they refunded my money. Smh thanks for listening! Have a great day,...
Read moreMidwest city standards strike again! Got a classic steak sandwich but this one was special. Second bite in to my sandwich I got a crunchy, gritty surprise. I thought maybe it was a hard piece of pepper possibly and continued eating. Next bite from the other side of the sandwich was the same result, a crunchy bit of dirt in my food. The feeling of biting into sand/dirt is unmistakable. Haven't been here since before covid, won't be back til after the next pandemic. Be wary of ordering online and not tipping. Being as they had to walk two steps to get to my car a tip was not warranted. No special service was provided and the runner was wearing tie dye short leggings. Not exactly good attire for the food service industry as you have to pick them out of your caboose every 5 minutes. The sandwich alone is $12. If you want tips, price the food affordably. Not to mention tip culture is an absolute scam. Stop expecting customers that already pay your checks, to tip you too. Talk to your boss that is raking in money and not paying employees a living wage. I bet the owner isn't living paycheck to paycheck. I'd bet my soul on it. Let's start the "hold your boss accountable" culture. I don't need a person to serve me. Let customers pick up their food at a window and stop pressuring timid people to give you their hard earned money for...
Read moreI hate to write a negative review of this place because clearly Chuck's reputation precedes itself but I was not a huge fan.
We ordered a steak sandwich, onion rings, fries, and a cheeseburger. My girlfriend liked her cheeseburger and the side of fries we ordered were also good. I like thick fries like they serve here. Onion rings weren't bad but weren't amazing either. I'm sure I'm out of touch but it felt like the portions of the sides were kind of small for the price.
The steak sandwich was good and it was a very good size (for the price it better be) but for whatever reason, my stomach could not handle it. I woke up twice in the middle of night having to use the bathroom and it's still messing with me the next day.
I would still say Chuck's is worth a shot because my experience doesn't seem to be a common one but I can only speak for myself and personally, I do not see myself ordering...
