This area has to have more Bob Evan's restaurants per capita than anywhere on the planet. The one in Whitehall is super consistent from what I remember. Gahanna? Not so much. Let me start with the good, move on to the bad, and get to the ugly. The wait staff is awesome. From what I could tell this was a nearly all female staff. But, management's biggest disconnect in 2018 is fostering a mediocrity that is just good enough to make a place functional. With so much competition, they need to incentivize excellence. In a better managed restaurant the staff would achieve a higher plateau nearer to their potential. My server (Trisha) was on point, didn't miss a beat, and demonstrated a Kung-fu like coordination in the execution of her task. Total professional and a shining spot for this franchise. On a more personal note, she has a huge heart and is a true humanitarian. Now the bad... Take a look at the pictures and trust this report. The cooking staff needs to get up to the level of the servers. This is where the service falls apart. I ordered rye toast, hashbrowns, sausage links, and eggs over medium. The toast was wheat (as evidenced by the picture) and slathered in that Mellow-Yellow they use to grease the griddle. Everything was cooked (
Read moreI am fully disappointed with this location. I want to note that I am updating my original review which was from around a year ago, that review was 5 stars (would have given more if it was an option). It was the only time I've had such a good experience at a restaurant that I wanted to leave a review. Up until a few months ago, this was the location with the most consistent food and service. We were very disappointed about our usual server no longer being there, but we decided to give the place another chance. We have been back 3 times and each time the service and food is not up to par with what it used to be. After never having a bad experience for nearly a year, it shows what an impact one person can have on a staff. We are now lucky to get a refill and even luckier if our food arrives to the table as ordered. 2/3 times we heard the "manager" yelling at employees within earshot of customers. Hopefully management learns how to do their jobs here because it seems the other reviews on here have had similar experiences to mine. I should have stopped supporting this corporation months ago, but hopefully I can save you and your family from a terrible experience.
Went here today for lunch and everything was absolutely perfect. They seem to be a little short staffed lately, but Grace still always takes AMAZING care of us.... we are always happy when we get her table! Drinks are refilled, food is brought out accurately, and check is delivered promptly. She is seriously the best waitress we have ever had & this Bob Evans has truly turned around for the better. Managers were both working hard and hostesses did...
Read moreThings sure have change here and definitely not for the better. We actually visited earlier this week in the late afternoon hrs. After getting a table cleaned we finally sat down. We ordered our food and rolls were brought to us, they were small and over cooked, crunchy on outside. Finally got waiter to take them back to get fresh ones served. Then we had to ask for our coleslaw while waiting on the food. The slaw was slimy just not right sent it back right away. Wasn't sure why it looked that way nor wanted to try it. I ordered the country fried steak which had a spoon of brown country gravy, I know it supposed to be white and it had mac-n-cheese mix in it. I got mac-n-cheese with meal but supposed to be on side and it had what appeared to be lettuce pieces in it. So meal was horribly put together so I get the manager whom only could say is "I'm sorry", then he walked away. Wow, I know the younger generation are stepping up quickly to management, however, most are not trained enough for that position. They lack social skills, customer service, cleaniness, all the things a manager should be trained for. I know today's world is different especially when we see that most of the younger generation are stepping up to work, but, whomever is doing the job should be trained more for the customers to be happy. Ive been going here for more than 15 years and it just saddens me to see the changes that have happened since COVID-19 hit. It seems to be happening everywhere I go anymore. Give better...
