I've driven by this place every week for the past year and a half. It looked quaint and interesting, and it was right by the river (creek) and I constantly told my wife, "We need to check that place out sometime!" Finally, we decided to give it a try. And I wish we hadn't. First of all, when we entered there was only one booth big enough for our family, and it was taken by a group that did not need to take that much space. Not the problem of the establishment, of course...except for the fact that its a "seat yourself" establishment. So we squeezed into a booth much too small for our family, and waited patiently for the waitress. And waited. And waited. And waited. 15 minutes later, we finally were acknowledged by someone who worked there. Not our waitress. He gave us our menus and said our waitress would be with us in a few minutes. Finally the waitress came, took our drink orders, then our food orders. Only 20 minutes or so in, but we're finally getting somewhere! As I waited for the food, I was able to take in the "ambiance" of the establishment. In a word - bleh. I think it was going for homey, but I just got homely. It also had a funky smell. Not bad, just funky. We could have eaten outside, I suppose, but none of the tables were made for groups of over two. The booth we were sitting at had duct tape holding the seating together. Cute. They also had a Christmas tree in the corner. In August. Ok. During this wait for food, we didn't see our waitress once. This would become a habit. At least I had the food to look forward to. If people didn't come for the service, or the environment, the food has to be killer for them to stay in business. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed. I ordered the pancakes, since this place is billed as a breakfast establishment. I've had better. Its really hard to mess up pancakes, but they somehow managed it. They weren't tasty at all. I think I left half of them on my plate. Thats a rarity. The bacon was pretty good, which is a plus. My kids ate their food, but they also eat their boogers so I don't know how much of a ringing endorsement that is. My wife ordered the BLT, and gave the high praise of "Eh, its hard to mess up bacon lettuce and tomato." I think along the way we had a waitress sighting. She swung by when we were in mid bite asking, "Is everything ok?" (you know, that old trick). By the time we were finished chewing that bite in an attempt to answer, she was out of our lives, never to be heard from again. After an hour at this establishment, we were ready to go, but apparently they were not ready for us to leave. We had yet to receive the bill. Finally, after my wife and kids had left, leaving me sitting there with my empty glass, another employee stopped by the table asking if I'd like a refill. This would be the first time this question had been asked of me, by the way. At this point, I just wanted to leave, and I asked for the bill. That was brought promptly, and I paid it to escape further torment. At least the prices were reasonable. It was only a few dollars more than, say, Bob Evans, and a lot less delicious. At least we checked it out, and found out it wasn't...
Read moreCame here upon recommendations and also because of the reviews. My kids both ordered omelets. Waitress told us the bread that came with the omelets could be substituted for waffle/pancakes/French toast with no up charge. I ordered a burger with French fries. The burger lacked flavor and the bottom of the bun was soggy. The fries tasted awful. You can tell the oil was old and needed changed. So I didn’t eat anymore of the fries because they tasted so bad. My kids didn’t care for their meals and neither did I. And I can’t believe I’m saying this but honestly I’d rather go to Waffle House or Cracker Barrel. When I got my bill, I was charged for the waffle and pancakes, and the omelets were $2.50 more than what it was listed on the menu. I advised the waitress and she proceeded to show me the little tiny message about the up charge for the cost of eggs that was on the container holding the jelly. (As pictured) Who in the world is going to look at that while ordering their food. THEY NEED TO NOTIFY THE CUSTOMERS WHILE ORDERING!!! Who does that??? The tea was WEAK. The wait for our food was 30-45min. They were busy but not that busy to be waiting that long for our food. I wish I would’ve never came and saved my money or went to First Watch.(First Watch is hands down worth every penny spent) I’ll never return and I’ll be sure to tell others to save their money or...
Read moreThis place was pretty cool, we were unfortunately not able to eat outside due to rain but are definitely going to go back. The patio is right on the creek and was really nice. I'd imagine its a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. The inside of the building has a classic diner feel which is always nice. There are some booths and a little bar area. The staff was very friendly and quick to refill our coffee. My wife got the Big Nasty which I told her was unbecoming of pregnant women to order, but she did it anyways ;). It's basically an alternate reality Barn Yard Buster. It's got biscuits, eggs, and bacon, covered in Gravy. It looked good and when I stole a bite it was good. It was however only lukewarm when she got it and so was my breakfast which is my only complaint about the whole trip. I got the corned beef hash which was very good, my over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. And they had marbled rye for a toast option which is my go to toast when available. They brought us two complimentary mini muffins when we sat down which was very nice. I always enjoy a mini pastry palate cleanse before my meal. Overall it was a good experience and we will definitely be back. I would recommend checking it out if...
